According to TV6 News the government is involved with UDECOTT in the construction of a church in Arima. What could this project be? Do tax payers pay for religious projects?

Well, the fact that the Prime Minister is not answering questions concerning this Church, it makes me think the government is deeply involved AND they are using tax payers money for the project. Personally, I think Manning knows it is a given that he won't win the next general elections so he wants to ensure his church is ready when is time for him to step out.

He was very angrily when he fought the allegations in parliament. I was surprised he spent a whole hour "preaching" and talking about her Christian upbringing instead of giving some explanations. I was also surprised he mention that his spiritual adviser did not go to any trips funded by the Government yet in 2005 a newspaper in Africa recorded:

international QUOTE
Harare - President Mugabe yesterday met a special envoy of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr Patrick Manning, at State House.

Speaking after the meeting, the envoy, Reverend Juliana Pena of the Lighthouse of the Lord Jesus Church, said she had come to Zimbabwe to share with the President a vision that she had received from God in which he revealed his desire to see change in Africa.

Mr. Manning wants the public to believe that she funded her trip all on her own?

Pentecostal / Full Gospel Pastors are saying that Mr. Manning's recent defense of the Lighthouse project is not helping the Full Gospel movement in country. In fact it seems Mr. Manning's rant in parliament has caused more questions and more interest in the whole affair.

More controversial things happening with regards to this Church. Apparently, the chief executive officer of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation Winifred David did the right thing by giving notice to the Church since the corporation did not grant approval for the construction of the church on State lands. She said that seven days after notice is served, the corporation would seek an order for demolition if the owners did not stop construction.

It seems like it was the wrong thing to do. She has been transferred and is not speaking to the media.

international QUOTE
Ten days after she threatened to shut down work on the controversial church under construction in the Heights of Guanapo, chief executive officer of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation Winifred David has been transferred to the Port-of-Spain City Corporation and took up duties there on Monday. Marva Carter is the new CEO at the Tunapuna/ Piarco Regional Corporation.

On February 25, David said notice was served on the owners of the Lighthouse of the Lord Jesus Christ church since the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation did not grant approval for the construction of the church on State lands. David has previously said that seven days after notice is served, the corporation would seek an order for demolition if the owners did not stop construction.

"The usual procedure is to give them notice, asking them why the development is continuing after that there is a process of seven days, if they do not stop the work, we then come back to council and get an order for demolition," David had said. "It kind of helps them to stop from going ahead with development unless they get the necessary approval."

Sources said David was expected to be disciplined for making public comments on the church, which has been linked to Prime Minister Patrick Manning and its owner reported to be Reverend Juliana Pena, Manning's spiritual adviser.

David, who was said to be in a meeting at the Port-of-Spain City Corporation, did not return any calls to Newsday yesterday and her secretary insisted that she was not available....

This is the issue with Trini politricks. You hear about all these things, there is huge coverage, etc. Ministers, PM, etc are questioned about it by the Media. They either comment very little or not at all. Then some another news take precedence and this one is totally forgotten. Zero accountability. Mr. Manning, tell us once and for all your involvement with the construction of this Church please.

Well, the truth came out and does not put Mr. Manning in a good light. Architect Stephen Mendes confirms Patrick Manning's involvement in Guanapo church. PM truly means Prime Minister.

international QUOTE
Architect Stephen Mendes, the man who has held the key as to whether former prime minister Patrick Manning was personally involved in the commissioning of the controversial Guanapo church project, has finally broken his silence on the matter, confirming the "PM" he wrote about in a letter dated May 2, 2006, in fact, referred to Prime Minister Patrick Manning.

The revelation comes exactly three weeks after the country's new Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar held a news conference on May 15, 2010, nine days before the May 24 polls, in her capacity as leader of the People's Partnership, to unveil documents purported to link Manning directly to the Guanapo Heights project where a church was being built on State lands for Manning's personal spiritual adviser Rev Juliana Pena.

From those documents, Persad-Bissessar produced Mendes" May 2 letter, which was addressed to former Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (UDeCOTT) executive chairman Calder Hart, and in it, he stated:

"The structural drawings developed to date are not in accordance with the recent changes made to the architectural drawings as a result of recent PM's requests. Additionally, they need to be developed in far greater detail.

"Additionally, the consultants need to develop and finalise their general arrangement drawings due to the recent changes called for by the PM, including those related to the residential component appended to the church."

Rowley says that Manning must explain his involvement with the Guanapo Church because in Parliament he made some statements and now information is coming out which contradicts what he said.

On top of that, the police is trying to find Manning's spiritual adviser to interview her. It is reported that she lives in the USA and they are not able to find her and they are going to request help to INTERPOL. They are also going to interview Calder Hart and Manning.

Things aren't looking so good for Manning.
