His greatsword was still in his hand after hacking their way to the Fort. It was coverd in some greenish looking liquid from the vegetation. He wished he could clean it. He reluctatly set his blade down in front of him and waited.

The guardsmen move cautiously to your location. Two of them search threw your things and pat you down as the other asks questions. They ask you basic questions like, where are you coming from, why are you here. You answer the questions but they still seem reluctant for your presence.

Still, the soldiers tell you get you weapons and escort you inside the fort. It is not very large and there are only a 3 buildings. You notice a guard stands in front of the smallest building, as another guard approaches you and speaks.

"Yes you were informed correctly, we have been attacked. I am sending one of my men to try and talk with the local lizard folk tribe to see if we can sort this out. I need all the men I have here in case they attack again, but I also need someone to guard the man I am sending to talk. If you are able and willing I would task you with guarding my man. Either way you can get some rest in the barracks, please do not poke about. We are recently stressed from the attack and some of my men might shoot first and ask later."

You also hear an odd groaning coming from the small guarded building every so often.

Aleric replies, "We too have encountered these lizardfolk, but the one we fought had the smell of death upon him as if his body had begun to decay.

If these lizardfolk are among the living, then sending five armed men into an enemy camp would hardly appear to be a gesture of peace. Perhaps you can send your man ahead unarmed while the four of us cover your diplomat's tracks thereby gaining the element of surprise should these lizardfolk mistake your desire to negotiate as a sign of hostility. However, if they are among the walking dead as I fear, then your efforts to negotiate are in vain."

[Aleric notices the groaning emanating from the guarded building and makes a mental note to suggest that the halfling sneak about to see what he can make of it while he stands at the lookout for suspicious guards.]

Kayle is uneased by the noise eminating from the small building. He doesn't let it show on his face though. He immiediately recognizes that this "Lord Aleric" is used to being a leader. Kayle doesn't have a problem with it and let's him to all the talking. He also realizes how great a strategist the man is and he is glad that he happened to meet with up them.

The guard captain seems surprised and turns a little red in the face when you mention the possible undead lizard man. He composes himself and responds to you.

"That is fine, I only need Geov (the diplomat) to be escorted. Once you have reached the camp, you can wait in the boat."
The guard captain looks around, then frowns, then turns and leaves to his quarters (a medium sized building on the north west wall).
