Rash treatment for kids

I found this and thought I would share it with everyone.  It touches base on a few of the most common skin rashes with children such as:  Eczema, Chicken Pox, Poison Ivy, Hives, Scabies, Ringworm, and Diaper Rash.

Seldom does a child reach adulthood without developing a rash of one type or another, and it's not always easy to differentiate between conditions like eczema and poison ivy.

On The Saturday Early Show, Dr. Mallika Marshall from WBZ-TV gave some tips on spotting and treating common skin disorders in children.

Although many parents may get nervous when their child develops a rash, Marshall says not to worry too much. Kids get rashes all the time, according to her, and most of them are harmless.

Many rashes even can be treated at home. But Dr. Marshall says if you have any concerns about your child's condition, don't hesitate to get him or her in to see a doctor.

When we first brought Felipe to Trinidad he broke out in what seemed to be hives (red blotches and bumps), so we took him to the doctor and was surprised to find out that it was mosquito bites! This is one thing to look out for when checking on your child.

Sylvanna has actually developed some sort of fungus on her skin around her neck and upper back and chest area. They look like warts or bumps. We've taken her to several different doctor's all with a different thought of what it was. We lucked up with one visit to a skin specialist. But with having state funded medical coverage (Medicaid) on our kids, it wouldn't pay for any more visits. sad.gif

I really don't remember what it was the doctor said. It was a strange name. He gave us medicine to treat it with, but if the medicine didn't work, they would have to reschedule to have them all cut off. undecided.gif

The medicine seems to work, but the wart like bumps keep coming back. So, I keep trying to find another doctor that will take Medicaid. It's really frustrating when you can't even get your child proper medical care because Medicaid won't pay for it.

Mss, sorry to hear that sad.gif at least you all get some medical attention for free, in Trinidad you can be bleeding to death and go to a public hospital and you will die waiting! (I'm not exagerating). Does she still having them? did you make a search on the net about it? maybe if you tell me more details I can look into it. smile.gif

Yes, she still has them. But I will try to do a search, but I think a pic would show you better what they look like. I will take a pic and if I can, I will link to it from my image host, if that's ok.

She says they itch really bad sometimes. But we have been using TAZORAC (tazarotene topical gel) and when it's applied, it is only applied to the wart-like bumps. It sorta burns them or something. We have been battling this problem for a while now, so I'm sorry if I sound like I don't know, but most of the paperwork that came with the medicine has either been lost during the move or it's in the storage building. undecided.gif

I will try to get that pic done of her neck area and uploaded for you to see what I'm talking about.
