Great Gift Idea to Give Someone Special

This thread is for you to post your 'physical' gift ideas. Why do I say physical? I do not want this to become a thread about... giving your heart or your special smile, those are all great, but we are talking about some actual item that you can give.

So, with that in mind tell some great gift ideas. For instance one unusual gift idea is to take a rock that has a unique shape, look for a smooth flat part on it and then paint a face with a smile (maybe a smiley) and then attach a poem or some words with it. Place it under the person's pillow and when they check they will see it is from you! Some people do this with special prayers (prayer rocks) so that everytime the person goes to sleep they will remember the prayer you have for them.

Well, my oldest daughter likes to draw and color pictures to give away to people.  She'll write something sweet on it like:  'Thinking of You' or 'I Love You'.  It's really cute.  She does it for Christmas and birthdays or just when a family member is feeling kinda down.  She pulls out a picture and gives it to them.

When I used to have alot of free time on my hands, I used to make dream catchers and mandelas and give them to my friends and family as gifts.  They would be all different sizes and colors, but each one was always something unique and different to personalize it to that person.

I love to cook, so I will bake cookies or cakes or make nice dishes to my family to show them how much I love them.

Homemade Rose Water and Rose Oil
Ingredients and Instructions
You can make rose water and extracts (or any other herb) at home. Take a large pot, insert a clean brick or rock, fill with rose petals or herbs or whatever around the brick. Cover with water and place a small glass dish on top of the brick. On top of the pot put a stainless bowl and fill with ice. Simmer about three hours depending how many petals or herbs you have, replacing the ice as needed. The bowl with the ice will condense the steam and drip down into the glass bowl. The water in the glass bowl is your rose water or whatever herb, on top will be a layer of oil. This is the essential oil. You can separate these and use the water in cooking and the essential oil in potpourri, lotions, soaps or whatever.

Six years ago when my little sister was going through the trauma of her husband leaving her, I wanted so much to be there to hold her and chase away her demons. But of course I couldn't.

In a phone conversation with her, she said she wanted comforting.

So that gave me the idea to send her a Comfort Basket. It is a basket filled with packets of flavored hot cocoa, a couple of little stuffed teddy's, a big bottle of Mr. Bubbles (her favorite childhood brand), plus I also included soft and fuzzy socks with toes on them, scented candles, bath back brush, jelly beans (also a favorite of hers), a cute upbeat coffee (cocoa mug).

Then on each of her childrens(three girls and one son)birthdays, I sent them their own personalized baskets.

Each and every one had cocoa, a mug, a couple of stuffed toys, socks, bubble bath, candy, and of course a real mushy heartfelt card.

Now I find that a Basket filled with seasonal goodies is a great gift to give to anyone. Like when you draw a name at work, or need a quick gift to give on short notice. Even men like them. Hot Cocoa, bubble bath and a mug and stuffed toy of their own. Hey what's not to like.

Great Gift Idea to Give Someone Special

I once recieved a throw while I was in the hospital. When you're sick, it seems like you can never get warm enough. So a throw was a great gift for me and I could stay wrapped up in it when I left the hospital. Also, it didn't SMELL like hospital sheets and blankets, so it really made me feel better emotionally as well because I really don't like hospitals!
I always like gifts that remind me of the person who's giving the gift. Like, if you always like a person's banana nut bread, then I would think the best gift that would come from them would be their bread. But they kinda have to know you and you them to get gifts like that.
I think the best gifts people can give are from the heart and well thought out. Anymore these days, people just find the first thing and wrap it up and give it to you without any thought.
Also I think that people can get too many gifts that clutter up your home. I love to recieve movie certificates or resturaunt certificates. And I'd love to recieve like a free day of pampering certificate of some sort, something that included a meal, a movie, and some time a spa or salon.
Just some ideas, hope someone can use them!
