Really, I think it's pretty easy to detect fake news any more, just turn on the TV or go to just about any news site on the net. Most of it is fake to some degree because just about every news agency doesn't just report the news any more, they report their opinions. I long for the time when the news reported with little or no slant and we decided. And maybe I'm just living in a dream world and it was always like this.

One of the reasons some news comes up as "Fake" is due to the 'race' to be first. Each network wants to be the primer outlet to get you the story to the extent that they are willing to give you half truths until they can figure out what really happened.

Yes, I also agree with this. Not only do news outlets put their own spin on the news, they try to be first so your only getting the spin of a portion of the story. That's really not conducive to good reporting or a good way to "Inform" the public.

I think a lot of the issue is the race to be first. They run with uncorroborated sources. Many news stories are simply hit pieces dressed up as journalism.

Yes, and I think they also race to believe what they hear because they want to believe it if it plays into their narratives, whether that narrative is right or left. That's the danger of having news organization that tilt one way or the other. They believe instead of corroborate. Every time I see unnamed source identified I start with a skeptical attitude towards the story.

This is one of the reasons I do not watch many news sources. Granted I have to have CNN on at work but that is mostly back ground noise as I can not tell you want is happening in the world unless it is something major. If something happens I go to the internet and search different sources to find what all have in common to give me the core of what really is happening without the spin each news agency wants to put on it.
