DREAM Act

DREAM Act

I do not see this becoming law without a lot of red tape that will only benefit but a very few.

3 Undocumented Immigrants Risk Deportation in Protest for Passage of DREAM Act

Three young immigrant rights activists are facing possible deportation after their arrest in a sit-in on Monday at the offices of Republican Senator John McCain. The protesters called on McCain to back the DREAM Act, which would grant permanent citizenship to undocumented workers' children if they completed two years of college. The three are each undocumented immigrants, marking one of the first known instances activists have risked deportation to back immigration reform legislation. The three activists join us from Phoenix. Ref. Source 8

Act DREAM

Debate: Is DREAM Act a Solution for Millions of Undocumented Youth or a Funnel for Military Recruitment?

The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act-DREAM-would allow undocumented young people a chance at citizenship provided they attend college for at least two years or enlist in the military. It's been described as a dream come true for undocumented youth wanting a chance to stay in this country without the fear of deportation. But many antiwar activists warn that the bill will simply funnel more young people into the military. We host a debate between Camilo Mejía of Iraq Veterans Against the War and pro-DREAM activist Gaby Pacheco. Ref. Source 1

Utah delegates vote no; undocumented students say bill gives them hope

Undocumented immigrants may now have reason to hope.

The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act passed in the House 216-198 late Wednesday night. The bill, which has been tossed around Congress since 2001, would grant legal residency to undocumented college students and members of the armed forces. Ref. Source 4

Act DREAM

Yes but the Senate rejected it. Illegal immigrants hoping for some breathing room will find that the US is not being very lenient at the moment:

international QUOTE (CNN)
Senate Democrats cancel vote on DREAM Act, meaning the immigration measure is likely dead for the year.

Nancy Pelosi - Dream Act

Ah, another wonderfully titled progressive piece of legislation that sounds so fluffy, why even bother looking into it? It's about dreams! Who doesn't like dreams? Of course, the bill is actually a giant crap sandwich that will only saddle America with even more problems. Ref. Source 4

DREAM Act

The Senate GOP has just blocked the DREAM Act for immigrants, so all the 'dreams' are now gone for them. In some ways it really is unfair for US Citizens to be paying for children of illegal immigrants.

DREAM Act

Wait a sec, if you are illegal how can you be doing all the right things?

international QUOTE
Obama: illegals doing 'all the right things' won't be deported

The illegal immigration problem is so out of control that illegals actually have the nerve to directly confront the President of the United States and complain that they are getting harassed too much for being illegal. How did the President respond? By congratulating the illegal immigrant for 'doing all the right things' and pimping the Dream Act.  Ref. Source 2
