What made her different made her exceptional. A biopic of Temple Grandin, an autistic woman who has become one of top scientists in humane livestock handling.

Biopic of Temple Grandin, an autistic woman who overcame the limitations imposed on her by her condition to become an expert in the field of animal husbandry. She developed an interest in cattle early in life while spending time at her Aunt and Uncle's ranch. She did not speak until age four and had difficulty right through high school, mostly in dealing with people. Her mother was very supportive as were some of her teachers. She is noted for creating her "hug box", widely recognized today as a way of relieving stress and her humane design for the treatment of cattle in processing plants, even winning an award from PETA. Today, she is a professor at Colorado State University.

What a great film! This movie won 7 Emmy Awards and if it wasn't because is a movie made for television I am pretty sure it would have won an Oscar. I was very impressed by Claire Danes as Temple Gradin (she was magnificent) and even Temple herself said that when she saw the film, she couldn't believe how the actress could interpret the role in such a way that really, it became her.

If you are a parent of an autistic child, know someone with autism or you are simply interested in this fascinating story please watch the film.

What I liked the most about the film is that it clears a lot of misconceptions about autistic people (some people think their IQ is different from your average person, etc).

Even though the autism spectrum is big and every case is different, if you want to understand a little more autism, this is the film for you.

Grandin Temple

A great movie. It shows the kind of struggles that people with Autism have to go through. One big difference though is that Temple Grandin had a savant ability in photographic memory. It is important to understand that not all Autistic have this ability, it is rare. Temple Grandin was also what is known as 'high functioning' which basically means she could do a lot of things for herself. Other persons with Autism may be 'low functioning' and need help even going to the bathroom. Nevertheless it was a great capture into the possibilities of achieving no matter the odds.
