Mayer writes, "The [Koch] brothers have funded opposition campaigns against so many Obama Administration policies-from health-care reform to the economic-stimulus program-that, in political circles, their ideological network is known as the Kochtopus." Koch defends political efforts, questions climate change
Charles Koch, the billionaire industrialist who vows to spend $300 million on politics in 2016, said he and his brother, David, are involved in politics to improve people's lives, not to enrich themselves. In 2018, Koch retired from Koch Industries, the Kansas-based conglomerate run by his brother Charles Koch, because of health reasons.
