This Day in Church History

August 12

Did you know that on this day in 1841 Joseph Smith preached to about one hundred Sac and Fox Indians during their visit to Nauvoo. The group includes Chiefs Keokuk, Kiskuhosh and Appenoose.

The Saints enjoyed a period of peace while in Nauvoo. Friendly relations were made with many of the Indian tribes of the surrounding areas. On August 12, 1841, Joseph and Hyrum Smith escorted about one hundred Sac and Fox Indians to a grove near Nauvoo. Joseph recounted the message of the Book of Mormon, believed by Latter-day Saints to include the ancestral history of American Indians.

[offtopic]You may want to add this to the Calendar, when you do make sure to give it a name in the 'name' field and for the length of time to run you can add 3 years, that way every year for the next three years on the same day it will show that same thing wink.gif[/offtopic]
