Your Favorite Advisor

Where do you get your stock market reports? Yahoo! has a great free service, as does BigCharts.com (I think that's part of CBS MarketWatch), and there's another one at kitco.com.

Who is your favorite financial commentator? Do you watch financial news on TV, or do you get info on the internet? Do you follow their advice?

tena... Yes, they can be really boring. But I also find it fascinating how differently these guys view *the exact same information* and put their own kind of spin on it. Actually you are probably better off NOT taking the advice of most TV "analysts." They've been pretty much dead wrong for a lot of years.

I also feel that economic indicators are a good way to gauge how the world at large is doing. What happens in the US DJIA can affect the British FTSE, the Nikkei, the dollar affects the euro, yuan, and yen, etc. It's like a giant see-saw of differing weights and balances. Awesome to watch, and to see what happens world-wide when Alan Greenspan speaks (at annoying length) to Congress periodically....

I actually use a personal advisor, because I can call him up and ask questions, and we have yearly discussions to review my portfolio and any changes that may have occurred. The reason I got one was because my company would reimburse for their services. Now that has stopped but I like the service and would be willing to pay for it on my own. It is not that expensive, and it gives me peace of mind that I have a professional helping me make sound financial decisions.

One of these is Mark Skousen's financial site (yep, related to Cleon and Joel!).

These sites are, in my view, trustworthy (unlike many).
