I'm a little confused about this topic (it's not really "crystallized" in my mind if making nude pictures is good or bad), so I won't make any judgements, I'll simply state some opinions.
Why some models do it and why some photographers asked them to do it? It's obvious - for the money ... it sales.
I have to admit that I enjoy the sight of a photo/sculpture/painting of a nude body. If it has "good taste" (we are not talking about porn).
On the other hand, someone mentioned that a nude picture can create an emotion. I agree. But think of it in another way ... if the model is talented and the photographer is good, can't they create the same emotion without the nude part?
There is another topic on 'Nude Sculpture' that gives more insight into the aspect you are commenting on, but you are right... then number one reason the whole 'take off your clothes' industry is succeeding is because it sells. So long as their is a market for filth - filth will be sold in my opinion. However, as has been mentioned before 99.9% of the persons taking off their clothes to make a buck would really rather earn their income with their clothes on, so in another way consumers may be capitalizing on someone's grief.
When this topic was copied over, I didn't really see the question at hand, but if it has to do with nude photography or nude art being necessary, I think it's all in the eye of the spectator. I think in the right context, anything can be appropriate. Most artists do what they do because they want someone else to share in their vision and give them an alternate perspective on something that they may see differently. My husband and I have a collection of nude art/photography books/sculptures and we don't sit and gawk at them. I guess it's just an appreciation, but I see nothing wrong with nude photography/art. If you don't like it, don't look at it.
Basis of the topic concerns Nude Modeling mostly which some refer to as 'Artistic Nude', but the person is still naked. It is covered here from the aspect of the professional model and not just the observer. The aspect of art is another discussion - 'Nude Sculpture' (see above left - related links).
Offtopic but, I am going to explain this thread better in the first message. |
Anyone who wants to photography naked women is just a sick pervert whether they call it art or not!
I think if the nude photo is tasteful it is ok. I do not want to see a lady all spread eagle or a man either. I think if the photographer uses the male or female body in a pose that gives it form and beauty it is ok. I know it is not something that everyone will agree to. I think if the artist who is taking the picture is looking for a nice photo that expresses the idea they have in their head rather than something sexual it makes more sense. Then again that is just me.
