"The LOTR: the Return of the King" Extension will feature some new material in the novel that was not in the film, especially featuring Saruman. Those are my very fav scenes in the book, but I've heard that it isn't Wormtongue who kills "Sharky" in the end.
We have absolutely loved the extended editions of the movies. The extra material is certainly worth the time to watch all of it.
I doubt, however, that the Return of the King will have all of the Cleansing of the Shire in it. That is, by far, my favorite part of the story. Oh well, I can still read it and see it in my imagination.

I love the extended edition. I did not see the movies in the theater but was given an extended edition set for my birthday and fell in love with them. I was very glad that I did not see them in the theater when I found out that nearly every one of my favorite scenes turned out to be scenes that did not exist in the theater release.
I very much enjoyed watching the actors commentary version after watching all the three movies through as well.
Totally awesome trilogy. I loved the LOTRs and can't wait to see the Hobbit. I haven't seen the extended version but since auxarcs said it wasn't in the cinema version then I'll have to get hold of the DVD.
