Jerry Orbach

Jerry Orbach, most famous for his role in the TV Series Law and Order, died Tuesday night at the age of 69 from prostate cancer. My memory of him in a movie is in 'Dirty Dancing' where he plays the dad of Jennifer Gray's character. I particularly liked the Law and Order series in which he played DA Investigator Briscoe. His funeral was this last Fri on New Year's Eve.

He has a new series that was just beginning production when he had to leave for treatment. I had heard he was getting treatment and figured it wouldn't be a problem. Prostate cancer is pretty treatable. I assumed he had just recently been diagnosed. Apparently, he had been fighting the disease for more than ten years. He had just not made his illness public.

Aww, that's so sad! I do remember him from Dirty Dancing more than anything. I knew he was in Law and Order, but I never really watched it. He had a really powerful presence on the screen.
