Around 12.35 a.m. Yesterday, PCs Fulchan and Edwards of the Besson Street Police Station CID responded to a report about a shooting incident at the corner of Duncan Street and Independence Square north.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Rodriguez lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot injuries.
Officials from the Emergency Health Services were contacted but by the time they arrived, Rodriguez was already dead, police said.
Police said Rodriguez, who was clutching a bag of bread and another bag containing two children's movies, was shot about six times in the face and upper body by unknown assailants.
