When you see Howie Mandel on TV, you just seem to see a regular guy who laughs and seems to be having a good time. However, did you know he has severe ADHD and OCD? He says he is heavily medicated and see lots of therapists. Before being diagnosed and on medication, he said when his kids were sick he used to go to sleep to a guesthouse for fear of germs.

Yes, I"ve got a whole group of symptoms, almost the entire alphabet.
How do you control both conditions?
I"m surrounded by great help. As I speak to you right now, I"m heavily medicated and I see a lot of therapists.
Do your therapists understand both conditions and their accompanying quirks?
Do you know what my psychiatrist said to me last week in the middle of my session? "Stop it, you"re making me crazy." That's what my psychiatrist said to me.
Did you think that was funny?
I didn't.
In your book, you reveal a lot about your OCD and ADHD. Why did you go public?
I was working with somebody [on a book] about my experiences in show business. And he"d say, "You didn't want to touch these things?"
The publisher told me to include all this in the book, and that became the crux of Here's the Deal, Don't Touch Me.
I wrote this book to talk about it, so I could help other people. Through emails and Twitter, I get a lot of mail.
And because I have this pulpit of TV and radio, people are listening now. And I"m more than happy to speak to people, if that's helpful. Source 6
