Speak Spanish Now!

I really need to learn Spanish, or should I say spend more
time memorizing verbs and words. I undersatnd the basic concept
but can't seem to 'clear' my mind sufficiently to learn. Anyone
have stories about how long it takes to learn well enough to hold
a conversation?

JB you have a wife who is a native spanish speaker and you don't know spanish? Shame on yourself!!!!
The lengh of time depends on how good learner you are. If you're a fast learner and do all your homework it will probably take you around 3/4 months to hold a conversation. But it always depends on how much you study and in how many times a week you practise it.

Well I really have to start soon. I was in a situation recently where everyone was looking at me as if I was suposed to know Spanish. I just need to set aside time for memorizing which in my mind is mostly what Spanish is... memorizing words and verbs... I think putting them together is the easy part!
