Sacrifice - Page 2

When I was growing up, half of my relatives in our home were Seventh Day Adventists. Their belief is that the Sabbath is from dusk on Friday till dusk on Saturday. During that time, their religion asked that its followers refrain from worldly activities. These basically included most everyday activities ranging from going out to working to exchanging money for goods. Their belief is that this time is the 'day of rest' referred too in the Bible, and therefore should be spent only reflecting on Scriptures, praying, attending church and ministering with others.
For me, it was a huge sacrifice because I could not participate in a lot of Saturday activities at my school, or with my friends. When I got older and could work, I was not even allowed to work on Saturdays. Eventually I broke away from the religion, but during my childhood, it was a huge sacrifice, especially when you are a kid.
