Terrible tragedy. The second earthquake is natural to happen after the first big one, in fact there are many smaller ones afterwards that aren't as big but still very scary.

Those figures are insane. Nepal is already a very underprivileged country and with this they will be in a terrible situation for months if not years to come because its not just about the dead but the skilled workers and others that had to meet important needs of the country.

Destruction like this usually means that the buildings that collapsed were not built to withstand an earthquake or they were simply old and not kept up. Its a terrible tragedy.

Someone mentioned that the buildings were not suitable. I agree with that for the most part but not in all cases. You will find that if an earth quake is strong enough there will be structural damage that can still kill people even if the whole building does not collapse. Devastating tragedy though, I hope Nepal can get through this.

Through out the tragedy comes the amazing story about the 4mth old. That's beautiful. I saw a photo of the family with their baby and they may have lost everything, but their beaming faces show a different story.
