I can't say that the majority of riders here are careful. First, motorcycle is the most common mode of private vehicle here in the Philippines. So you may find a large percentage of motorcycle owners in every town. Second, we only have a few law enforcers dedicated to traffic compared to a large number of riders. You can see riders who are less than 18 and driving without license. Third, people here loves to drink, get drunk then drive.
According to a government agency, there was a total of 31 thousands motorcycle accident in 2019 in Metro Manila, amounting to 86 per day. That is only in the metropolitan area, not including the statistics in the provinces. In my line of work, 99% motorcycle accidents I encounter are due to riders being intoxicated with alcohol.
What is unique? Riders here do drag race in the streets usually on weekends when there is lesser traffic and fewer police.
Most common are Honda wave, Mio, Suzuki and yamaha.
