Global Terrorism Although this Thread covers Terrorist attacks around the world there are also Threads that cover Terrorism in specific countries. Do a search to find them if this one is too general and you need more specific information.

Hasn't this Williams guy already been proven as a fraud and dismissed by both US and British authorities?

46 bombs explode in 30 minutes across Thailand
By Elsa McLaren and agencies

Forty-six bombs exploded within less than half an hour, killing two people and wounding 21, across southern Thailand today.  One of the homemade devices went off at government offices in Yala minutes before Deputy Prime Minister Chitchai Wannasathit was due to arrive for an official visit.

The attacks are believed to have been carried out by Muslim insurgents who have mounted a long-running but largely hidden campaign for independence of the country's three most southern provinces.

The blasts went off between 8.30am and 9am local time, as people headed to work in the three Muslim-majority regions of Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala, said government officials. Both fatalities occurred in the Pattani province.

While this was a "low fatality" event, it was obviously well-organized, well-planned and choreographed to happen during the morning rush hour. They planned to do much more damage, I'm sure. How there happened to be so much less death and inury is a miracle. 46 bombs in 30 minutes! Incredible.

While none of the bombings occurred in any schools, this quote is absolutely chilling:

Education officials said that many schools in the region cancelled classes and sent students home amid concerns for their safety. Schools and teachers, viewed by insurgents as symbols of authority, are frequent targets of violence.

Bin Laden 'won war against West'
By Duraid Al Baik, Foreign Editor

Dubai: A leading expert on terrorism believes Osama Bin Laden has already won the war against the West and warned if politicians fail to come up with a coherent plan to deal with the threat, the future was bleak.

Nikola Zlobin, Director of Russian and Asian Programmes at the Washington-based World Security Institute believes attempts to contain the threat of terrorism had been botched.

"Social and financial resources allocated to fight terrorism are depleting quickly. The quality of life for people in the western world is declining steadily and the war seems to be endless," he said.

"The influence of Al Qaida is expanding geographically and demographically and negotiations with Al Qaida might be necessary rather than fighting its ghost fighters across the globe."

Who is this so-called expert on terrorism? Never heard of him, that I can recall, or his World Security Institute. So I looked it up, and there is a wealth of information on their site for world events linked to global security issues.

I do agree with many of the points made, but I disagree that the terrorist "war is won" already.

Rather off topic, but...
Interesting. I'm still not sure who "they" are, but it's an interesting site.

They're saying on breaking news that some woman from Yemen mailed two of the packages but I bet whe wasn't directly behind it. How stupid it would be to mail two bombs and then leave your name and address so they can find you.
