Students at Santa Clara University are upset after its campus newspaper was forced by administrators to remove a section of a published story that included criticism of a dean by a wealthy donor. Under state law, the paper did not have to change the article. Ref. Source 9o.

It's too bad when a university does something like this. First and foremost, it teaches the kids exactly the wrong lesson. Next, it discredits the school and dean, making him and the school seem petty. Who cares if a wealthy contributor says something like that. If the dean is doing a good job it doesn't matter and if he isn't he should be gone anyway. Last, it sounds like they actually broke state law by doing this. Now resources will probably have to be paid on more lawyers.
