Clerk Entry Data

I have done this before and never liked it. If you like just doing monotonous work all day long without having to think much, be creative or even interact with people then this is the job for you! It is a clear case of do the work, get paid, go home.

I have known people that moved up from data entry level to higher IT or managerial positions, but this was mostly due to their ambitious nature as well as a development of their education after working hours.

As far as salary... I do not think you could support a family on this. In Trinidad you would go hungry if this is all you did, besides, most employers will never hire someone to just enter data without having them answer the phone and type letters (yep, doggie dog situation).

I have had jobs in the past where all that was done all day long was data entry. Some jobs strictly numbers, like utility meter reads, and other jobs with alpha-numeric data, like shipping names and addresses.

Yes, it's monotonous, mind-numbing, body-aching work. And people expect you to think when you get done! Oy veh. Doesn't pay much, except in high-wage areas, such as Orange County and Los Angeles County in SoCalif where you can make up to $15 an hour (for data entry, that's REALLY good pay!). But most places you won't make more than $7.50 to $8.00 an hour, unless you are really fast on the keys.

Not fun, but if you have no other options, it pays for gas and groceries, and you don't need a degree or much experience smile.gif
