Being a part of the film world I think it is important to watch the credits, there are so many individuals that contribute to the final cut and at times you may see the similaritiies to other films from those that work in visual effects and such. Each one of these people are part of the journey of every film. So the next time you watch the credits, see if there are any names that you remember from other films.
If I'm watching a movie for the first time in the theater, 90% of the time I'll stay and watch the credits. Once it's on DvD, I won't bother. I'll just turn it off after it's over.
I agree With Ramsus, I always sit till the end of the credits and see all the music that was used in it. I like to listen to music, so I sometimes write the songs down, download them, then listen. I think that movie music sounds good and I should listen to some more often ...

No I don't take the time to read the credits, like Nighthawk said...
Sometimes the music is good, like Ramsus said, but I usally don't take the time to listen to that either... >_><_<
My wife and I like to try to identify minor role players from movies. She is way better at it than I am, but quite often if we think there was a minor role player that we have seen before, we will wait for the credits to verify if we were right or not. We also like checking who did the musical score for the movie. Definitely, if it was a animation movie, we sit and find out who did the voices! We like to guess who it was and see if we were right.
