Dress To Fight

FBI agents can always be seen wearing suits while running and fighting, it must be rather uncomfortable even if specifically designed for that. In the Far East loose fitting attire is considered to be superior while in other countries having just a trunks on is enough. What do you feel is the best dress for fighting - both close combat and missile.

Fight Dress

In my experience loose fitting is the best since there are certain movements that may require twisting your body. For missile I will assume this is referring to gun fire I guess bullet proof vest thick clothing depending on temperature and helmet, but if I was one on one I would not care to have all that stuff on me to weigh me down and make a 'paradise' for someone that may be expert in Jodo.

Not that I'm a brawler by natire, but I've had some instances...

Regular cut, properly fitting (never tight!) broken-in denim jeans, size-appropriate shirt (loose fitting ones are prone to being grabbed), a jacket if possible, and hard-soled boots- preferrably with metal tips (or steel toes for guys).

If there's time jewelery should be removed and long hair tied back. If one has keys, grasp the ring with the points projecting out from between the fingers of the fist. Hair combs can be used as weapons. So can belts.

Projectiles? Duck and cover, baby!!!

Fight Dress

For a situation that involved fisticuffs I'd agree with the loose fitting clothing in just about every situation. However, when it comes to missile combat I think climate is a key factor. Another key factor is what type of missiles you are talking about. Bullets, I may or may not wear anything to protect myself (bullet proof vest). If somebody is throwing grenades on the other hand. . . .

Fight Dress

It's good to have shoes if the ground is rough and something protecting your knees. Do not have anything restricting the movement of your hips and arms.

Also, don't worry about being modest. Even if your clothes are removed in action, or if they are torn; keep fighting. Use it to your advantage.

Dress To Fight

It would depend on the impending danger and what you are used to. For instance a wrestler would do better with tighter fitting clothes than loose, or a jujitsu master would do better with custom fitted clothing, and a street fighter is accustomed to various types of attire to brawl in. Now as for the impending danger it'd be better for thicker clothing or armour for harder projectiles or arms. now as for hand to hand it would be better for lighter looser clothing.

Personally I find non restrictive clothing best. this does not mean loose as loose gives plenty to grab.

Where I train for grappling the recommended attire is bike shorts under sports shorts and a rashy (surfing shirt) these cloths are skin tight but still allow total freedom of movement.

This is for unarmed fighting.

For missile fighting (will assume you mean firearms) as a soldier I want a ballistic vest, knee and elbow pads (reduces injuries when diving for cover) and ankle supporting boots with sturdy soles. I don really want steal caps as the extra weight makes a big difference to your endurance especially since I will be carrying my weapon (3.5 - 4kg) webbing and ammo (up to 15kg) ballistic vest (8 - 9 kg) and running round like an idiot trying not to get shot. Also my camouflage uniform is handy so that hopefully the enemy will see someone else before they see me

You bet those bike shorts and surfing shirts are great in hand to hand combat. Light shoes are great for combat especially if you have toughened up your feet.

Projectiles I assume here we would be looking at arrows death star, daggers ect not guns and such since it is the fighting arts vs modern war fare. For this kavlar vest and gloves are your friend.
