Changing Reality To Match Your Belief

Changing reality to match your belief

What are your thoughts about people who often try to change reality to match their beliefs. An example of this are most cultist who take away the freedoms of their flocks and justify it with all kinds of reasons even though it is not reality but just a psychological cover-up we know as "brain washing".

On a smaller scale I have seen many religious fanatics come on here with eccentric thoughts and actions that are not compatible with the acclaimed belief system, but yet they seem bent on getting everyone to believe their theological aspirations. They get angry, make threats or leave just because they do not find those willing to believe what they say. In other words they do not have 'control'. This seems to be the most prominent thing about changing reality to match your belief. Any thoughts?

Do you refer to conveniently ignoring certain crucial facts?

I have never been in this board for "general religious discussion" before. So, what do you mean by 'the acclaimed belief?"

Changing Reality To Match Your Belief Beliefs Religious General

Ignoring reality = ignoring what is established fact whatever that is for the place and time. For instance, saying the sun is the moon and vice versa. Although it is done in a more subtle way, I am your new messsiah, bow down and worship me.

Acclaimed belief = the person says they are "Christian", but their actions, statement and general behavior are more Satanic. This can go for any established religion and can be seen readily in such radical groups as Islamists.

Psychologically, we find that typical Members of any Church may on occassion try to change reality to match a personal belief in order to justify many things: worthiness, acceptance, and so forth. It may be as simple as trying to justify a harsh statement made to another, seeing a $100 bill on the floor of crowded room and just pocketing it and so on. In each of these the person may invent circumstance (change reality) to justify to themselves that it is right / justifiable (is it reality though?).

"People who shut their eyes to reality simply invite their own destruction, and anyone who insists on remaining in a state of innocence long after that innocence is dead turns himself into a monster."

It is my belief from studies that to control others you have to get them to believe as you do,. Those that refuse to believe as you do are labeled as the unclean, the outsiders and so on. It is then the job of the true believers to try and get these "others" to see the light and come over to your beliefs. What these 'true believers' do not realize is how much of the truth they are actually missing. Getting them to see the true light can be a very challenging trial.
