Cambridge Holds Man United To 0-0 Draw In FA Cup
Global Soccer / Football News

Cambridge held visiting Manchester United to a 0-0 tie on the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night, earning the fourth-tier club a lucrative replay at Old Trafford. Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie missed good chances to score in the second half as manager Louis van Gaal's team was repeatedly frustrated by the lowest-ranked club remaining in the competition. The draw means the teams will play again at United's famous ground to decide the winner. While United will be a massive favorite, the replay is a victory in itself for Cambridge, which gets a share of the revenue from the game at the 75,000-capacity stadium.

Aston Villa-Arsenal Preview
Global Soccer / Football News

Arsenal are clicking into gear heading into their match versus Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Arsenal's performance in the win over City was hugely impressive, not least because it came out of the blue following a run of dreadful results for Wenger's side against the league's top teams.

Manchester United-West Ham United Preview
Global Soccer / Football News

West Ham need a positive result from Sunday's home match against in-form Manchester United to re-ignite their push for a place in Europe. The Hammers (10-6-7) were in the top four just before Christmas but have slid down the table to eighth place after securing just one win in six Premier League matches. Sam Allardyce's side have been hit hard by injuries, and the east Londoners are likely to face United with a depleted squad. Accordingly, Allardyce expects a tough match against the Red Devils.

ESPN Univision Angry At FIFA No-bid Sale Of US WCup Rights
Global Soccer / Football News

ESPN and Univision responded angrily Friday after FIFA awarded U.S. broadcast rights to the 2026 World Cup to Fox and NBC's Telemundo without open bidding. ESPN broadcast six straight World Cups from 1994 through last year, but in 2011 was outbid by Fox, which agreed to pay about $425 million for the 2018 tournament in Russia and the 2022 tournament in Qatar. The network is owned by The Walt Disney Co., and ESPN President John Skipper has been a major supporter of the U.S. Soccer Federation. ''We were not invited to be involved in this process,'' ESPN said in a statement Friday, a day after FIFA's surprising announcement.
