AP - The Supreme Court ruled Monday that white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge.
While this is obviously a just decision, it is discouraging that court was divided so sharply, and that it failed to address the broad issue of racial discrimination in merit testing.

This is something I have been watching for a long time now. With all the minority groups yelling that they are being treated unfair for such a long time it has reversed itself. Instead of basing a person on merits and job qualifications companies now merit who they give promotions to based on race and gender. Now it is a lot harder for a white male to get a job or a promotion.
