As Hurricane Sandy crept up the Atlantic coastline blowing a mix of sand, rain and salt mist, 920th Rescue Wing airmen at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., moved the wing's six HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters inside an aircraft hangar to protect them from the storm.

Sandy Hurricane
Hurricane Sandy is some 485 miles south-southeast of New York City packing winds of 75 mph.
This dangerous storm is expected to make landfall late Monday near the DelMarVa Peninsula and southern New Jersey.
Forecasters warn it will likely collide with a cold front from the West to spawn a superstorm that could slog along the Eastern Seaboard for days -- meaning even more wind, flooding and power outages.
Mass transit systems that typically carry close to 11 million on a weekday are canceled in New York, Washington and Philadelphia. The federal government has told its workers in Washington not to come in on Monday, and schools serving more than 2 million students are canceled up and down the East Coast.
President Barack Obama has declared states of emergency in Massachusetts, Maryland, New York and the District of Columbia. Ref. CNN

Hurricane Sandy is a powerful storm that will affect millions of people, President Obama warned today.
The storm, with sustained winds of 90 mph, is forecast to make landfall on the mid-Atlantic coast tonight or Tuesday morning and it could affect as many as 60 million people.
The U.S. Supreme Court has canceled its public session for Tuesday "Due to weather conditions related to Hurricane Sandy."
The storm also could delay the release of the highly anticipated October jobs report set for this Friday.
Mitt Romney's campaign canceled his event in Wisconsin tonight "Out of sensitivity for the millions of Americans in the path of Hurricane Sandy." Ref. CNN

There are supposed to be upwards of 9,000 or more flights that had to be cancelled because of this storm. I really hope that most of it is adverted to the ocean many Americans cannot cope with another Katrina now.

Forecasters say Sandy is no longer a hurricane but is still a dangerous system taking dead aim at New Jersey and Delaware. The National Hurricane Center said Monday evening that Sandy is a post-tropical storm and losing strength but still has sustained winds at 85 mph. The eye has almost made landfall.
