In Character::
"We should rest here. I recommend that we take nothing from this place. Regardless of what you find. Drink water, rest, pray, eat, but do not take from this place. The safety is our treasure everything else would be a affront to the gods that provided it."
Out of Character:: Something I remember from the first room. I could be wrong. Take nothing from the glade or to that effect. I will have to research my notes.
Izumi pockets the coins and gems, as she explores.
After, she quips after Elrik, "This seems a perfect place to stop for the night. It is apparently safe. Still, we should have a watch of course."
Izumi puts her pack and spear down, and pulls off the belted carapace pieces. She then goes over to the stream and begins to wash the carapace pieces of it's previous owners 'juices'.
(If it is a flowing stream, she will wash the pieces in it. If it is not a flowing stream, she will use the bowls she kept to carry the water to the pieces.)
After she is done at the water, she will move the pieces near the burning firepit to dry them. As soon as they are dry, she will pull them aside and sit by her pack. She will then pull out the Box she found in her bag and attempt to exchange something for anything from twine to leather strips to help sew and bind the pieces of carapace into some kind of armor.
(She will use any of her bones, spearheads or coins, to try to get the items. She will use things more then once if she receives something she can't use.)
Yaeth looks at the water. It appears to be about 10 feet deep and moving at a fast but not
Rushing pace of flow. The water is cold to the touch but not freezing, it is fresh and clean. As he looks into the depth of the water he can see small colored stones in it. The stream flows entering from the (top-right of map) wall side nearest the fire, and coming out from under a stone lip as if the stream ran beneath and between the stone. The water travels through this area with access to the open air. Then it dips down flowing back into a tunnel like effect between the stones. A person could very well try to swim with the stream to see if the water led to a passage or other room, but it would be a risk and likely a one way trip.
As he searches the room, he begins to except the space to be safe and without hidden surprises.
As he looks for any hidden or secret passageways it dawns on him this would be a task someone with pure elf blood would be better suited for then him.
He finds a piece of parchment shoved into a crack in the wall.
It is written in Goblin of all things. (To read it you will need to find some one to translate it for you.)
Alexander points and laughs as the spiders scurry away. The smile on his face as genuine as can be.
The group, well most of them, had been on foot for the past 6 to 7 hours. Have spent the night before in cramped cells in a jail, and on their way this deep passed trap room after trap room, fought spiders and lost friends along the way all in the most of one day. Their feet are tired, but more so their minds and souls are wary and stressed state of emotions and memories that will linger with them for a life time.
Alexander sits cross legged on the ground tired but willing to press on.
Rest votes the cleric. He starts looking over the notes after asking Praos for the first book. Skipping some lines until her gets to a small segment of text, he unconsciously reads aloud while muttering to himself, "Traps, there are many of. The mind must have wit. Together there is power. Light feet are still felt on her web. Webs cannot reach in the water. Ripples of the tide reveal movement. Do not swim in Black water! Drain the void and find a wealth, as blue eyes watch. Beware the blue ice eyes, or die at the hands of what has birthed a God. Dwell not in the grove for longer than a night, or grow a part of it within you. Drink not the filth of the waters of the grove. Take nothing from the grove"
Praos chimes in saying, "Looks like we made it past the traps, and the spiders. We seem to be in the water part of the test, by my best guess. Still, no clue what the black water is, but the grove would likely be next after that.
He pulls out the 12th book and flips over some pages hoping to find another segment of text. Then reading along, he reads it aloud,
"The journey will be long. There is only one way out. The glowing ore must remain in the dungeon. Watch out for Traps. Think before acting. Will need teamwork"
He stops to take a breath, and then proceeds to read aloud in a normal speed and inflection so any can hear. "Be careful of spiders. To flee the spiders take to the water.
Be careful the monsters in the water. Do not swim in Black water. Treasure lies beneath the water. Blue ice eyes. Wherever the grove is, don't spend too long there, something purely evil corrupts it. Take nothing from the grove."
Izumi pockets the loot unnoticed. Announcing her vote to stop for the night, the flowing stream offers a good way to clean the spider hulls.
The Box of Exchange.
Dirt! Dirt is a good place to start.
She pulls up a handful of dirt and stone from the ground, and drops a fistful of it into the box. Close-open-air-close-open-beads?
She keeps putting dirt in until it's hard to gather a handful of dirt from where she is sitting.
Beads, 2 copper, a marble, a daisy flower, a sock, a rock, a ball of cotton?
Round 2 she starts to put the objects back into the box still hoping to get something better for them and trade her way up to a needle and thread.
Beads become grain, copper becomes an orange, the marble to a seashell, the sock turns into a fork, the rock becomes sand.
She sets aside the cotton, and when she gets to the orange she sets it aside as well.
Grain turns into silver, the seashell is now a handful of nails, the fork becomes a bar of soap. The sand becomes a small spool of thread.
She sets the soap and the spool aside along with half the nails to use as a tool.
The silver becomes a butter knife, the nails become a chunk of ice.
She puts the chunk of ice back in before it melts at all and opening it, gets a yard of ribbon. She sets the ribbon aside to use for lacings, and puts the butter knife in the box, hoping and praying she will get the needle she needs. As she opens the box completing the exchange she gets what she had wanted: a sewing needle.
In the end, after taking quite some time, she gains a ball of cotton, an orange, 1 bar of soap, a spool of thread, 6 nails, a yard of ribbon, and a sewing needle.
Having received some of the items she was hoping for, Izumi decides to continue the experimentation of her box. She goes into her packs and produces two bones, two spearheads, and five copper pieces to use.
From them she gets, 1 pound of rice for the bones. A small pan from the spear heads, and from the five copper she gets, 1 onion, a tomato, a carrot 2 small potatoes, and a small chunk of butter. Shocked a bit at the stream of food she guesses the gods or whatever it is that controls this box have deemed along with a safe rest the group deserves a meal.
In Game: Felipe says to the group, "Before I rest I better go and search around this place to see what I can find here". Felipe goes and searches the area to see what he can find around the area.
Search roll result: 10 - (10 + 2 = 12)
Spot roll result: 20 - (20 + 1 = 21)
Felipe drinks from the water, it is cold and clean and nice to drink.
Yaeth saw that the water was almost 10 foot deep and knows he will likely need to swim against the flow of the water if he wants to reach the stones beneath the stream. Or if he had rope maybe he could be tied off so he would not get swept a way and be able to collect the stones from neath the water with out trouble. He looks a round and see that Felipe has a nice sized bundle of rope sling over his back and solder.
