Before Praos goes down to sleep, Izumi tells him to wake her after his shift.
With everyone fed, She goes to clean the skillet and fork, and the bowls she used for the meal at the stream. After she's done with that, she'll pack it all away and sit to rest for the night.
As she lays by the fire with the others, she asks the others who're still awake, "So, I know about myself and Haru, what's everyone elses' stories? I mean who are you up top, and how the hell did y'all get caught up in this deadly game?"
Matt leans back standing against the cave wall.
Dreamed last night of my mother. At least, I think that is who she was. I was abandoned as a baby near the ports, the woman in my dream was singing to me. Gods I wish I could remember the song.
To day I was thrown in jail for nothing but lies. I herd one of the guards saw something a bout a quota wish I could have one of there grimy necks in my fists right now." as his words turn full of hate he voice is gritty is squinted brow and hand jesters of ringing a mans neck a company the words.
He closes his eyes leaning back letting the back of his head touch the stone looking upward if only in motion. Words calm now he adds. "I am starting to wonder if this test will not change us, in more ways then one."
"I killed a man who needed killing. " Alexander lays on his back, he mutters, barely loud enough to be heard. "I know it was the right thing to do, but my reasons for doing it..." He sighs heavily. "I killed in passion, not to protect or defend, but for vengeance."
He rolls over onto his side, head cradled in his hand, "It's not something I particularly enjoy speaking of. " Alexander laughs wryly, "I'm probably the only one of us who actually deserves to be in here..."
He sighs again, then shakes his head as though clearing it.
For everyone: flavor text
"Good they made it to the fist safe zone."
"This is not a game; we should be protecting them more."
"Then how are they going to prove that mankind is worthy of being saved?"
"Saved! is that what you"re calling it? I would hate to be saved by the likes of you."
"How dare you. If it was not for your actions that's day your lack of..."
"Boys! stop this and behave you are gods now act like it."
"Boys? Outrageous how dare you talk to me in such a way, the only child here is him and he has not even lit a candle yet."
"I have one."
"You do?."
"Yes it just took some time to move, it's ready to be lit now."
"What type of candle did you forge in the Dream world?"
"Bet its defective."
"One of song and magic a man looking for adventure."
"You realize your father will have his eye out for a candle you light."
"Come now let him speak."
"Yes but, it's possible it could be added and them slip past his eyes without being seen. I can move the waters to make it harder for him, but this will also make it harder for them."
"Do not get cocky; we will just have to see how well this one fairs once lit."
"So what's the name of this candle?"
"Vigo Zar."
For Bobbo:
The day had been a long one and Vigo was still not feeling well. The nightmares of the night before haunted his thoughts and he played for the crowd of the tavern. More worrying was the report he had herd that in the city more people where going missing every day.
Dreams are a fickle thing Nightmares even more so. And as he played a song he had performed a good hundred times on the road his mind wandered to the thoughts of the night before.
The dream:
Running. Why am I running. Darkness so much darkness.
A light in the distance and sold stone under my feet I hear the footsteps of my plight but why am I running.
Chased?
"Don't look back" a man's voice unknown is calls out.
Who are these people? Detail less forms, men and women we are all running. Running from what?
I can't help it I need to know I want to look back.
Cold and brilliant glowing brightly in the darkness blue as the depths of ice and wind a fire cold and freezing it brakes the reality of the dream.
Where am I?
Falling? No. Floating? No. What is this black void I am in where did the others go? Can they help me? Why where they? The darkness is parting a spiral of black and blue I am falling, just slowly and endlessly I can see the head the mouth of a serpent [great] with fangs baring forth. I can't stop I"m going to be eaten.
The jaws of a giant serpent the light is gone. And he wakes with a startle.
Back into reality:
Vigo looked out over the crowd of disappointed faces in the tavern, he was daydreaming a gin. He could not shake that nightmare from his mind. He could feel something was wrong and look down to see one of the sting on his instrument had broken, snapping its sour note had woke him from the day dream just as he had woke startled from it the night before.
He apologized to the patrons of the tavern bowing and taking his leave with little coin and no meal. It was dinner time and his stomach growled as he walked the street wondering if the next taverns crowd would be more generous with their coppers and silvers. He hardly played attention to where he was walking as he fiddled with his instrument as he walked, lucky he had an extra sting but that was his last one and, it was where not cheap.
A teen unnoticed is running and bumps in to him in passing, distracted he thinks nothing of it as he is pickpocketed of what little coin he had earned, unaware he arrived outside the next tavern.
Standing there before going in, he thumbs over the new string in its place twisting the pick till it rings out reverberation of the correct tone and key. Music was his bread and butter it earned him meals and sometimes a bed, what coin he had we mostly from the wages of his talent, yet he wanted more in life and deeply desired for something of an adventure to find him.
The date is April 28, year 199 it is 6pm and the sun is setting in the sky. Orange and red light dimly sweeps over the city streets. He takes a step toward the tavern door to proceed in, as unexpectedly he look up just in time to see the body of a large man being hauled out the front door smashing in to him and sending him but to ground with a thud.
"Crack, twang," a heart wrenching sound. The large man rolls off of him and Vigo looks down to see his instrument broke in half and small wooden slinters cover his vest jacket and lap.
You stand up. As so does the large man, who looks at you drunkenly and disoriented, you are caught off guard when his fist meats your face and you are knocked out and collapsing back down to the ground not a moment after rizeing to your feet.
You walk nearly an hour later in a cold jail cell woken by the sound of gears opening a door behind you. You stand slightly off balance and with a ringing in your ears. You see a small sack on the floor next to you and try to focus your mind as you see the back hatch of the cell open in to a bank hallway.
You give yourself a good look over and realize all of your items armor and weapons have been taken - likely by the guards. "What a shitty day" you think to yourself as you pick the small sack up off the floor hoping it's some of your items or something of the like.
Opening it you realize it's a days" worth of nearly rotting food, nothing more than a bit of bread dried meet and a half rot apple. In with it is a water skin and a piece of chalk. You look out threw the bars but can't see far down the mina hall. Confused you look out in to the hall the large metal door at the back of the cell opened in to. Stepping out in to the blank hallway you see it leads down to a room dead ending in the other direction.
You proceed to the room and see 3 tunnels before you each looking the same as the others. Picking one at random you tie the sack to your hip, on the belt that held nothing but empty belt pouches.
You climb into one of the tunnels and as quickly as you do, it slopes down and you are sliding on the slick metal. You manage to prevent yourself from injury when it finally spits you out, crashing against the wall and onto a pile of something. You feel dizzy for the moment as you lay there starring up at gray stone walls. As you recover and climb to your feet you realize that which has cushioned your fall and made your bed is a pile of bones. "Bones" you think to yourself!
In a moment of shock you jump out of the room in to the dimly lit hallway wide awake and alert with the rush of adrenalin you look around to see that the small hallway connects to 3 small rooms each full of bones and with a tunnel dumping out in them.
You walk down the hallway to a large room, reliefs and carvings line its walls and text of many tongues. The passages you can read say the following lines out of order and content.
Common:
"Take nothing from the grove"
Halfling:
"When the room is Quite, think loudly."
"Find the stairs leading up and go down."
Searching around the room you see clearly the three locked doors but know not how to open them, you then find a note on the wall in chalk suggesting you use the water of the well in the center of the room to open the doors. "How can water open a door you" think but none the less you go to the well's side. You realize something is off as you bend down to fill your water skin with fresh clean water emptying out the dirty water it had held. A weight is on your back. "This was not there when I woke in the cell." you think to yourself as you pull an instrument off your back. (Please specify what type of sting instrument you want- it is non-magical but master crafted.)
"Did it magically appear on me as I went down the slide in the tunnel?"
Wondering if anything else has appeared you give yourself a good look over. You also drink from the well and are surprised at its clean and refreshing taste. The water of the well heals you as cuts and scrapes, even the mental fog and ringing in the ears clears and you are renewed. You look at the water skin you just filled from the healing spring and wonder how long its contents will keep its qualities about it.
As you stand, you pluck at the strings of your new instrument. It is perfectly in key sound and tone as look it over. It is lovely and is made of fine wood, with detailed carvings and design work. It seems to be that of master quality and etched into the side of the wood is a pattern of a spiraling snake incorporated in to the Celtic line work.
Is it a weapon from your god? You wonder.
You discover while you have no armor, your clothing, fine boots, good belt, and two belt bags are all there.
You find a holy symbol of silver around your neck, it is of your god and looks much like the one you had set your eye on one day owning having seen its like in a shop back home but not being able to afford one such as it at the time. The symbol is lovely simple lines glinting in the dim lighting of the room.
As you admire it, you notice a ring on your hand that also had not been there before. Looking it over, you know it to be magic but not for what. It is a gold band inset with a pearl.
You smile giving a lighthearted laugh, what a crap shoot of a day and now to be in a pit of a dungeon but granted gifts from your god. What's next you think wondering and why? What is this place, and how do you get out of it!
Having taken full account of your items you walk back over to the doors and splash some of the wells water on one. It opens, the sound of gears pulling it up and away. A hall of darkness is in front of you and you walk forward knowing this place is likely to have traps and death at every turn.
You make your way into a small room. As you walk into it, you feel as if you are being watched and while the other side of the room is only 10 feet away, you can't help but think this is a trap. With that thought, the floor opens under your feet and you fall down into a pit. Landing unhurt, you watch in the darkness as the pit door overhead closes back up. Without a light, you feel around with your hands going over items trying to figure out what you landed on. Some parts are soft but cold other wet or moving? You catch the stench of rotten flesh and then your hand hits cold metal, sharp and sturdy; a pit of spikes so full to the top with bodies that it made for a soft landing? You crawl over the rotting flesh of the poor souls that have braced your fall until you reach a wall. Your intent was to stand and try to reach the hatch overhead but as you thumb over the wall you feel a seam, perhaps a hidden door!
You search and find a loose stone and press in. The hatch opens and you can see a dim light at the end of a crawl space. As the light enters the pit, you can see the rotted flesh of corpses beneath your knees, maggots and hair stuck to the fabric of your pants.
You climb into the shaft and away from that pit. The crawlspace leads to a room and the cause of the light. A glowing archway is on one of the walls. The floor and ceiling and walls make a perfect square room.
The glowing runes of the archway tell you it is magic and the surface inside the archway is a flat blank white. On the wall next to the arch in chalk on the wall reads the words 'teleportation- unstable".

"Haru disappeared while on an assignment for the butcher shop I own and run in town. I came to be down here when I went in search for him. I had gone to the Great Hall to meet others about the disappearances, and I was 'arrested' and thrown in the dungeon cells only to find myself in the 'Trial'."
Izumi continues, adding, "I had a dream as well. It was about my family and being from the desert and a disaster striking Florana. Many people screaming, more dying. Also, I dreamed of Truth"
This day really was turning out to be quite extraordinary for Vigo Zar. Though he was in the dungeon, he, nonetheless, had his wits, his fine clothing, and now a new masterwork harp made from the finest cherry wood.
Feeling a bit curious and anxious, Zar decided to step into the blank, white surface inside the archway, hoping that it will indeed teleport him into anywhere but here.
Vigo Zar:
As you step in to the arch you feel a magical and physical pull. Fist the body feels jaunted forward at an incredible speed, then the mind almost as if it was pulled a moment later whip lashing you into your body as you fall out of mid air. The word unstable to say the least describes the random thrust to some where deep with in the dungeon.
As you fall from mid-air you land on stone and dirt a room of brightly lit light and heated in some way.
Thud, you hit the ground back fist hugging your harp to your chest for fear it brake and protecting it as you fall. You are disjointed and the room is pinning slightly as you will have to take a moment before you can see state or gather the balance need to stand.
The Group:
A small flash of light spits the body of well dressed man out from mid air near one of the walls outside the protective ring of runes. He comes crashing out and sliding in to the protective ring landing on his back hugging tightly a fine looking harp.
The sound of the crash was enough to wake any attempting to fall asleep and to startle all in the group.
