Medieval RPG: To Catch A Thief - Page 4

The Game Master says...

Kron worriedly checks for traps with his staff and sees that the first room appears to be empty. Satisfied that nothing appears to be amiss you move on to the exit due south. You enter a passageway that bears to the left and then opens up into another large cave room that has no exits. As far as you can see there are about 10 beds placed up against the walls so as to leave the middle of the cave room clear. Nothing else seems apparent from where you stand, however, you have the gut feeling you are being watched...

The Game Master says...

You move up to the center of the room hoping to find something that would indicate an endangerment to your life, but nothing seems apparent as you all hurdle together in the center of the room.

The Game Master says...

You slowly retreat out of the room while checking for traps and you begin to see the value of a thief over guess work. You make your way to Knight's former position and upon arrival you notice the passageway going west is well lit by torches and light emanating from the end of the coridoor. Ten feet ahead you can see steps going down and you hear in the distance chants from a number of people.

GM: Say what you will do now.

The Game Master says...

The passageway is already well lit so as you creep down the stairs to the west as a group your presence draws attention to one worshipper who turns his head and watches you. There is no expression on his face so you are not sure what to make of it... have you been detected you wonder or does he recognize the cloak and clothes of a fellow bandit? Is it your torch? is it that he sees a large group behind T'gron? You really do not know, but your heart beats faster and faster as you imagine the first encounter you had with this dead man whose clothes you are now wearing.

Your eyes quickly look from left to right so as to not stare and you see about 14 worshippers from your position and a couple of guards dressed the same way as you are. Only the one worshipper has noticed you.

GM: Seconds count now and you must make a quick decision. I will be back to post at 1:30pm EST if you have party order or not.

The Game Master says...

You stand still like a cat who has just seen a dog. You wonder what to do next, but all this thought has no place in present conditions and the worshipper starts to frown his brow while squinting his eye to get a better look at you... one of the guards noticing this starts to move towards your direction to see what the worshipper is looking at that is taking him away from the chantings.

GM: Next post at 5pm EST wether you post party order or not.

The Game Master says...

Swiftly, T'gron passes the torch and staff to Kron as he sees the guard approach. He alone continues forward to meet with the one guard and worshipper while the rest quickly, but quietly, retreat to the intersection up the stairs. The guard comes over with sword almost drawn and the worshipper now leaves his position and starts to follow with a curious frown on his face. Before the guard can reach T'gron the worshipper points behind and upward signaling the others that are trying to make their presence less noticeable, but it is too late as the guard's sword is now fully drawn. T'gron tries to start a conversation just as the guard pushes him back against a wall, pulls the hood to reveal his face and says,

"Where be Heinder?"

There is no longer any chanting, but low pitched talk of the obvious disturbance, then suddenly - a cry!

"Intruders, intruders!"

Everyone starts to hawl in anger as the others reach the intersection in desperation.

GM: Smudge will need to post what he will answer. Since Smudge is not with the group the second leader will need to post the next party order.

The Game Master says...

T'gron starts to make up an eventful story that is far from believable when the dark black guard says,

"This blood soaked cloth you wear is that of my friend and you will now meet the hell fire angels!"

This being said, the guard seeks to trust his sword into T'gron. T'gron realizing the fatality of his failing persuasions tries to parry... he does pretty well and even injures the guard, but this only insights his already vengeful hate towards you and his blade sinks through your armor ending your life... T'gron is dead.

Meanwhile... the rest of the group decides to do the thing that most cowards do - they make haste to main entrance from which they entered. Having done a map and made their bearings correct they avoid the depression on the ground and then move up the stairs and to the area where Knight had secured the entrance.

Then something suddenly occurs to Kron as he murmurs loudly something about not knowing how to go out and Knight not showing you what he did.

GM: User Smudge is dead and may not participate in the camp. Kron is the new leader. Say what you will do now.

The Game Master says...

Kron, realizing that the party does not know how to open the cave entrance, bids them to stop and face their enemies. You stand between the cave entrance and the depression in the ground, facing north and you make a decision to fight the on comers with all your might.

You adjust yourselves and ready your weapons while your torch is out. Surely as expected you hear the approaching footsteps of the bandits who approach quickly with flickering torches. They bend the corner and their torch's light casts its illumination upon your weary eyes. They pause for a second, look around the room and then two guards lunge forward to attack and yet being sure to do so avoiding the depression in the ground with which they are very familiar.

Kron is approached by an injured but furious guard who lunges forward badly and Kron is able to make good use of this and ends his life.

Ariadne sees her enemy and as he lifts his sword she strikes two quick blows that utterly leaves him without breath and a limb as he falls to the floor.

Renewed by this small victory you stand your ground only to see more bandits coming around the corner. They seem to be worshippers, but not as well built as the first set (the guards), however their zeal seems equal. Twelve in all assemble and two by two they match your positions.

FIRST ROUND
Kron deals one a deep wound and misses the other. They reply back with misses.

Ariadne deals one a deep wound also and the other she kills instantly.

Horde pulls out a crossbow and takes out a couple from behind the both of you as he yells,

"Be gone with the lot of thee and thy demonic chants!"

SECOND ROUND
Kron deals the finishing blow to the already injured worshipper and his side mate, but not before receiving a terrible wound of his own that leaves him in anguish (-6hp)

Ariadne parries the blows her enemies try to inflict and answers them with death as they fall to the ground like logs.

Two bandits now face Ariadne and three Kron.

GM: Say what you wish to do now. Stats have been updated.
