Hannibal
Not as scary as the Red Dragon, but just as thrilling and I do not mean the kind of thrills you get when going on the Merry-go-round. This movie was well made. The gore was a bit much, but it leaves you with the extension so you know there is a part three. At the end I wondered why he was so merciful to the FBI agent, was it that because she showed no fear it impressed him?
I enjoyed this movie very much. I believe Hannibal Lecter had a deep respect for Agent Starling, which is why he spared her life, to the point of severing his own hand in the process. I havent seen Red Dragon, and hope to do so soon, but I enjoyed both Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs.

I make my assumption from what I saw in Silence of the Lambs. Starling was a young, southern agent in training, who had a rough childhood, and through it all, was very smart and had a strong will. I think Hannibal sensed this, and admired it, and maybe even studied it. To kill her would have been the same as killing a beautiful weed that we admire; why do it if we can enjoy it's beauty?
Anthony Hopkins was great in this movie. He is an amazing actor.

Silence of the Lambs |
I find the most interesting thing about Hannibal is that in the movie she cuffs him with a trick, yet in the book they run off together. They are very good movies, I remember seeing Manhunter years ago and thought it was amazing. Of course Silence of the Lambs I believe shocked everyone. Anthony Hopkins is awesome just to watch, whether a good movie or not.
