[medieval] Cleaning The Land - Page 4

The Game Master says...

Looking above you notice the trees are starting to sway, the wind is getting a little stronger and the clouds east seem to be grey. It is not something you want right now, but you might just experience another night of wet and cold.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

Land Cleaning medieval

The Game Master says...

Kiana, Ice and Mud hurry back to the wagon where Maicman and Kron have been waiting. They all pile in and Ice steers the wagon to the southwest in the direction of the mountains parallel to the forest in their search for caves. Kiana takes the snake and places it in her small sack. While in the wagon she looks over the ring very carefully to see if there is any visible crest or other marking. On the outside of the ring you see some strange symbols, something that you have not seen before. You hold it in you hands with awe.

The ride towards the mountains is without the expected rain, but the clouds remain grey and the atmosphere very cool. From your perspective there are no visible caves. In the distance, just before the mountains (about 1 mile away) you look up above to see that there are some carrions (black birds) circling the sky.

The Game Master says...

You make your way towards the area of the circling birds which is not far from the rising of the nearest mountain of the South. Ahead about 100 feet away you see something slumped on the ground being pecked at by a few of the carrions. You are not close enough to know what it is as the grass and shrubs are blocking your vision.

By this time, Kiana secretly takes the ring which she has been admiring and places it in her small sack.

The Game Master says...

You move cautiously, but at the same rate of speed towards the area of the circling birds and as you do so some of the birds disperse to the sides of the wagon and others are too intent on tearing the flesh of what seems to be a fallen bull. The smell is horrendous and decomposing creature lies there as a meal for the carrions which are still circling overhead hopping that your leave will be quick.

The Game Master says...

Ice stands up, arms her bow with an arrow, makes an overly easy shot at a carrion and it 'crawks' and then falls dead. The other birds flutter back at the sound, but soon return to peck at the bull, others seem wiser and have taken flight above.

GM: Say what you will do now. You may wish to be more specific as to who does what - for instance, now that the bird is dead, who will get it, who will keep it, etc.

The Game Master says...

Mud, pleased at the prospects of food, jumps out of the wagon and picks up the bird. He removes the arrow and slits it's throat to drain it of blood. He then returns to the wagon, giving the arrow back to Ice and storing the bird in the wagon's corner out of the sun for dinner later with the snake.

You continue onward passing by the bull as you notice the carrions return to feast. After a few minutes you arrive at the border of a mountain. Its' appearance is intimidating and to climb it will be formidable without gear and familiarity.

According to your best navigational skills you have three basic choices;

* Go West
* Go South climbing the mountain without the wagon or horses
* Go East towards 'Death's Mouth'

The Game Master says...

The grey sky breathes a light mist drizzle that starts encircle about you. No strong rain is apparent, but your vision is starting to become blurred, in fact you cannot see more than a half a mile in any direction.

GM: Say what you will do now. 9am.

The Game Master says...

You start to move Westward and the journey is without incident as the noon sun can barely be seen save for breaks in the clouds. You feel very hungry as you approach the outskirts of what you believe to be the Greystalk Forest.
