I really feel sorry for the people in this area of the world and if I were them I would be looking to move, but knowing how countires can be I am sure there will be an immigration block to stop mass refugees from leaving Indonesia.

The problem is the Indonesians are situated on one of the most active fault lines. They have a huge population, over 200 million. And their infrastructure is very weak. They are poised for mass disaster as India or Sri Lanka would be.
But while they suffer natural dsasters, one of their worst disasters, often unreported, is the government's decimation of some of the fringe islands. Aceh has been in civil war for god knows how long, timor was another example that recently won freedom. They have a terrible, opressive government in that country.
