The day I almost died? Hey man, take care of yourself, I know the natural herbs will help, but I do hope you are taking the right ones. Also, keep in mind that foods / herbs are merely the fuel it is only when you sleep is the fuel used to make repairs and conduct maintainance. Of course right now I can't talk as an example because I hardly sleep due to my current lifestyle, but that is how nature works. However, what is more surprising... you talked about going to eat some rich foods... be careful Bro.

Kon, wow I read your blog and I was very concerned about it. I was more concerned the fact you was planning to go out and eat such a heavy meal!. The truth is that the same day "you almost die", you got a new chance to live, please do not put yourself in the same situation. You know I tell you all this because I care about you. Just take it easy okay?.

The day I almost died is meant in a sarcastic yet totally real way. I got what I always get which is the broiled salmon. I dont each much red meat to be honest with you. My blood pressure is very good right now and I am on my road to recovery. Dont worry, I didnt eat allot, but it was super good! Salmon is amongst my favorite meals and I rarely get to eat it because it is so expensive. I had salad with lite dressing, no bread and broiled and blackened salmon. All fairly healthy and washing down with lots of water as usual. Thank you for your true concern. I truly felt my body was shutting down, I really cant describe it better. I was more unnerving to feel like that then the actual thought of not being here anymore. I dont know if I would have died, but people with high blood pressure have had strokes with it as low as 150 over 100. So you can see how the 118 really scared me. Your comments are as always taken from the point of view as friends who care.

K of Z, I just read your blog -- How Scary for you! Well, I'm glad you did the right thing and went back on the meds for your BP. That's just not something you want to mess with, obviously... Glad to hear you are doing better, my friend.

How is your sweetie doing? Has she had any progress or treatments for her condition? What's the latest?

Thanks for asking Roz, her dizzy spells have come to a stall in the diagnoses and treatment stage. She has learned to live with it. But her spells at times completely disappear for weeks at a time. Then at certain other times they get much worse again. But she is able to deal with them more now. And if they get real bad, she takes the valium for it. But she only has to refill her prescription once every three months at this point.

Konquererz Introduction

Read your blog and am glad you are back on your BP meds. I was concerned when I first read your plan to go off of them, but didn't think it was my place to say anything.

I have high BP and take a pill every day. I know many who do as well. I also know some who refuse to treat their BP until it is very high. I don't understand this. I realize that, for the most part, high BP has no symptoms so you feel fine, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. High blood pressure isn't caused by stress, it isn't caused by eating too much salt, it isn't caused by too little exercise and it isn't caused by being overweight. All these things can contribute to it, but true hypertension is a disease like any other. It should be treated. I think if someone wants to cut back on salt (which usually is only a factor in blacks, by the way), or increase your exercise or reduce your weight, fine, but go on the meds first. Then work with your doctor to reduce the amount of your meds if possible as a result of these steps.

I am not overweight and I exercise regularly. Still, I must take my meds. Exercising has helped keep my bloodpressure on the low side of normal, but still only if I take meds. With exercise and meds, my BP runs about 118/70, without exercise, but with meds it runs about 120/80. No meds - 144/92.

I do agree with JB that herbs can help with some things like depression and sleep disturbances, but when it is a matte of life and death like high BP or suicidal tendancies (not saying you have this just using as an example), I believe it is better to stick with modern medicine.

I am very glad you are better now.

Yeah, I should have realized that much earlier. I was first diagnosed in highschool playing basketball in the best shape of my life. I just was on so many meds that I really wanted to clean out. But I am off of anti depressants and prescription sleep aids and prescription migraine meds too. I am only on the one BP pill and that is something I have come to learn (the hard way) that I must take. I hate being reliant on prescriptions, but this is necessary. Thanks for caring so much tena!

Wow, Konq, I was reading your blog and I am just thrilled that you have had a nice raise at work -- and it wasn't all that long ago that your blog reflected your fear of actually losing the job due to the change in management! I'm so glad for you to hear that it turned out so well.

The other item of note was your pouring out your heart in prayer. My friend, that is one of the most effective things that you can do to change your life. I know you speak of "logic" that you have to work out, but sometimes it isn't about logic. It's about faith -- believing in things hoped for but not seen. The logic is in what you have faith in.

It's so good to "hear" you so upbeat smile.gif Take care, my friend.
Roz
