Chinese Village on "Lockdown" After Couple Reveals Officials Abducted Their "Illegal" Baby

The Chinese people have been dealing with a wide range of human rights abuses associated with the one-child policy in China. Whether it's forced abortions or sterilizations, loses of jobs or government benefits, labor camps, prison sentences or home detention - those who violate the policy have illegal children face the kind of ramifications most people will never experience who have a child anywhere else in the world.

Now, because a couple in one village dared to speak out about how family planning officials confiscated their "illegal" child, their entire village is on lockdown. Ref. Source 7

Forced Abortion in China Will Continue, Despite "Easing" of One Child Policy

Under the misleading headline, "China to Ease One-Child Policy," Xinhua reports that China will now lift the ban on a second child, if either parent is an only child. This minor reform will not "ease" the One Child Policy. It will merely tweak it.

All the reasons for this adjustment are economic or demographic: China's dwindling labor force, the country's growing elderly population, and the severe gender imbalance. Completely absent from the discussion is the issue of human rights violations. Ref. Source 9

No Amount of "Easing" Will Fix China's Brutal Population Control Policy

There are serious questions about the limited impact of the so-called revised one-child policy announced by China this week.

Let's be clear, nothing in today's announcement changes the brutal, abusive elements of China's population control program in which women's cycles are monitored by the government. Women must still get a birth permit before they can have a child, and fines and penalties will continue for anyone who has a child without government permission. Ref. Source 9

Chinese Woman Seven Months Pregnant Forced to Abort as She Begged for Mercy

An AP report describes the heartbreaking aftermath of the forced abortion of Gong Qifeng. Seven months pregnant with her second son, she was pinned down to a table by several people and forcibly aborted, as she begged for mercy.

Gong stated, "It [the forced abortion] has become a mental pain. I feel like a walking corpse." Her subsequent diagnosis of schizophrenia graphically demonstrates the untold mental and emotional violence that forced abortion unleashes against the women of China. Ref. Source 5
