[medieval] The Rescue - Page 3

The Game Master says...

Sabina scowls fiercely at the hunters' whispering and ogling. She sheaths her sword in disgust, shaking her head at men's folly, and prepares to ride on.

Ice, whispers to Sabina, "Easy now. I am not any happier at their looks than you are. You would think they have never seen women warriors before, but I think this is a time for diplomacy."

Swallowing her pride, she shouts to the hunters "Good day to you. Mind if we ask you a few questions? As you can see we are warriors and we are just beginning our latest quest."

One of the chuckles an then the other laughs and so to the other begins to join in what seems to be a joke that such as you would be on a quest as they say with laughter...

"Quest ye say? What quest be that? Finding a better river to wash clothes?"

She looks directly at the one who responded to her questions before and says,

"You look like quite a mighty hunter, yourself. How far from the village has your hunting brought you?"

To which one responds...

"Far enough to know that maidens as ye'selves be better in the Village cooking and cleaning and leaving this here ventures for us men folk."

Then then show you their palm in a downward motion as though to say you are not serious.

Rescue medieval

The Game Master says...

The hunters walk deeper in the woods while shaking their head and moving their hands in a way that shows they are engrossed in entertaining conversation. you can no longer see them as they walk casually into the deeper parts of the forest. You are now facing South on the main road.

GM: Say what you will do now keeping in mind that such routine encounters should not take up two plus days of game play.

The Game Master says...

Determining that those hunters were just a delay in your conquests you decide to ignore their body language and follow through with you plans to the South. By the time noon comes upon you a bit of your rations becomes the order of the day and since you are walking at an easy pace you find that it is favorable to partake and walk at the same time.

The day is warm and there is a light breeze from the East - at this pace you will have to camp by night and continue onward tomorrow unless you choose to travel by night - a very dangerous choice. You wonder what to do next as you look over the plains.

The Game Master says...

Finding a location to camp is not formidable within this area and you rest yourselves as your party becomes one body again. Sir Remi arrives like an old man and claims that is the longest he has ever had to walk as he reveals his bloody toes and his sore brow from the heat of the sun.

Rescue medieval

The Game Master says...

You make camp. Ice gives assignments to everyone including a special task to both Kron and Daphne both of whom will search for places in the surrounding area where the group members can take cover after dark to watch over the "fake" camp without being seen. There are plenty of trees and shrubs around to accomplish this. This fake camp will include Ice and Sabina gathering leaves, twigs and other brush that can be used to build mounds which will look like sleeping bodies from a distance when covered with a cloak. Cyroc and Remi sit and discuss the plans in greater detail and take charge of setting up the fake camp as the materials are delivered. Kron, Remi and Cyroc, use their cloaks used to set up the fake bodies. After awhile it is 3:00pm and your fire is alive.

[medieval] The Rescue

The Game Master says...

You carry out mundane tasks of a typical camp including some strategies for any probabilities of attack in the darkness. As the night falls and the moons set their light upon the plains you can hear the familiar sounds of wolf howls echoing in the night sky. You all remain awake through the night with the fear of the unknown and by morning you are all groggy and moody in fact a few of you throw some very sarcastic remarks at each other over trivial issues. Your belly growls and your eyes have developed bags under them as you feel very uncomfortable.

The Game Master says...

You decide that the light of day is a good enough reason to take at least three hours of rest and you do so in turns. You dismantle your camp and move Remi to Sabina's horse for which he is much in gratitude. Kron and Daphne are now the scouts and they recon the area a mile ahead.

You walk all day and by the setting of the sun you are one mile away from Death's Mouth. You remember here, the place is familiar and full of the shame of times passed when you were caught with 'your pants down'. You try not to mention anything about it because it makes your muscles and sword seem like a circus joke, but someone spills the beans and laughter can be heard in the group. This causes some of you to swear revenge.

The area is relatively quite, but already you can hear one or two wolves beginning to howl as the sun disappears under the horizon. You feel edgy and uncomfortable as the sweat of your body dries against your armor, you have not bathe and it is now time to eat. Some of you maintain a constant frown.

The Game Master says...

As you ponder what should be your next move the sun continues to descend behind the West Horizon leaving a darkened red sky in all its' brilliance. Looking around you know that you are near pit of uncertainty, but you ponder for a second... wait, what are we here for anyway? Odd you thought you knew as one voice among the group cracks the silence...

"Where be we journeying too now?"
