As a practicing Catholic I don't understand why other Catholics have a hard time understanding why the Church is against homosexuality and same-same marriage. It is in the Bible what more proof do we need?

Pope Francis is quoted as saying that while there were many holy people in the Vatican, there was also a current of corruption. "The 'gay lobby' is mentioned, and it is true, it is there ... We need to see what we can do ..." Ref. Source 2

Pope Francis reached out to the gay community Monday, saying he won't "Judge" Gay priests. "If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?," He said. The pope's predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, authored a document that said men with deep-rooted homosexual tendencies should not be priests. Francis appears to be more conciliatory, saying gay clergymen should be forgiven and their sins forgotten. Ref. USAToday

This is a big step for Catholicism and maybe a slow move towards acceptance of gays. Strange, because most thought that Pop Francis would be an even bigger hardliner than other Popes.

Pope Francis said religion has the right to express its opinions but not to "Interfere spiritually" In the lives of gays and lesbians, expanding on explosive comments he made in July about not judging homosexuals.

In a wide-ranging interview published today by Jesuit magazines, the pope also said that women must play a key role in church decisions and brushed off critics who say he should advocate more vocally against abortion and gay marriage.

If Catholic leaders fail to find a "New balance" Between their spiritual and political missions, the pope warned, the church's moral foundation will "Fall like a house of cards." Ref. CNN

In an interview published Thursday, Pope Francis criticized the Catholic Church for being "obsessed" with anti-gay, anti-abortion and anti-contraception doctrine. He said the Church needs a "new balance" or it could "fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel."
