Once again a terrorist attack has brought the Caucasian region of Russia to the focus of national and international attention. This time the disturbing news came from North Ossetia, where an explosion near the central market in the regional capital Vladikavkaz on the morning of September 9, 2010, killed 17 and injured over 100. The bomb was set off by a suicide bomber driving a car loaded with explosives. But painting this simply as another attack in the North Caucasus is an oversimplification.
