The biggest thing I look at is how overly politically correct we are becoming. In the words we say and the way we act. When I first heard of the NCAA doing this I was really suprised. Like some have said, FSU had the permission of the tribes to use the name. There are other teams that had done the same, but the NCAA seems to just want to show face. The NCAA just wants the tribes that have been speaking up to see that something is being done. I just wish they would leave it alone. So many things have been done in our day to correct past differences, but it seems to never be enough.

I think it all comes down to personal situations. As for me I run into other "Indians" getting offended by getting called Indian. They want to be called Native American. Others get more personal and want to be called by their tribe name. Now, if a non-Native American uses that name or reference without consulting that tribe for acceptance, you may have offended someone. I personally think that that cartoonish characters with big noses and big war bonnet are too extreme. Its representation here, so do it right!

In a decision released today, the office's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board ruled that the "That these registrations must be canceled because they were disparaging to Native Americans."

The board also said it lacked the authority to prevent the team from continuing to use the trademarks.

Its a big disrespect when you use a name that is sacred or meaningful to a whole nation just so you can make money off of it. Some can't understand it so I always illustrate it this way... What if it was called the "Catholic football team" And none of them were Catholic?

I am not American Indian but for me it is only logical that if a symbol is sacred to a people you simply DO NOT use it without permission. We know that from the inncident in Paris and other times but we are fortunate that the American Indians do not react like this but I'll bet the pain it causes them is no less.
