Alexander, Seahawks agree to reported eight-year deal

QUOTE
Shaun Alexander isn't going anywhere.

The Seahawks' MVP running back agreed to a multi-year contract Sunday, allowing the 28-year-old to remain with Seattle possibly until his playing days are over.

Alexander agreed to an eight-year, $62 million contract that includes more than $15 million in guaranteed money during the first year of the deal, sources close to Alexander said Sunday. The contract was expected to be finalized on Monday.

The $15 million-plus includes Alexander's signing bonus, base salary and other unspecified bonuses for the 2006 season

This had to be good news for Seahawks fans everywhere. With Hasselbeck locked up for a while, and a good O-line and set of receivers, Seattle should be able to make another run at the SuperBowl. Seattle is currently waiting for arbitration to rule on whether their All-Pro guard Steve Hutchinson will go to the Vikings or not. The outcome of this could play a huge role in Alexander's success next season.

Did anyone really believe that they would allow Shawn Alexander to leave the team? He is on a Super Bowl contending team now and has another real shot at the big game again next year. I was really impressed with Shawn this year, he really showed that he was the backbone of the team, and has shown tremendous loyalty to the team. Any team would have jump at the opportunity to get ahold of him, but he stayed with the Seahawks.

Did anyone pay attention to the little scuffle that's been going on between Seattle and Minnesota? We all know about the Hutchinson incident surrounding his departure from Seattle to Minnesota. Well, seems like Seattle exacted a little bit of revenge, stealing the Viking's top WR in Nate Burleson. They basically offered Burleson a contract which almost guaranteed that the Vikings could not match it. If anything, he is returning to his home state, and that had a lot to do with his decision, plus the departure of Daunte Culpepper. Burleson will do well to strengthen the receiving core for the Seahawks.

On a totally unrelated and superficial note, I think the Seahawks have the best color scheme. Aside from the Raiders and 49ers, their team uniforms actually make me think of their mascot and home region.

Next Poster, back to something of more substance. (As I'm sure this'll be a fluke in comparison to the rest of the board.)

Seahawks reduce rookie LB Aaron Curry's workload

RENTON, Wash. - Aaron Curry is about to get an unexpected breather from the Seahawks. He's had so many life changes since April, he probably could use it. The dynamic outside linebacker turned 23. He became the fourth overall draft choice. He got married and became a father. He sat out the first eight days of training camp, then signed for $34 million guaranteed - the largest assured cash for a non-quarterback in NFL history. He used some of that to buy a new home in the Seattle area. Ref. Source 7

NFL upholds touchdown ruling in Packers-Seahawks game

The Seattle Seahawks were awarded a last-second touchdown on a Hail Mary scrum in which Green Bay Packers safety M.D. Jennings came down with an interception that was deemed by replacement referees to be a reception. That score gave Seattle a 14-12 victory. Ref. USAToday
