I am thankful that a neighbor stepped up and helped this little girl out by calling the police. I hope the boy and the man both get harsh sentences and get to meet Bubba. They need to be castrated

More pedophiles in the island, sickening! I am glad the Media puts a name and a picture of these bastards.

QUOTE
A man who police claimed raped a ten-year-old girl nine times and molested her twice, was brought to court in handcuffs yesterday holding the Qur'an and reciting its verses.

Thomas Sharpe kept his hands together in worship as he was led into the courtroom of Chaguanas First Court Magistrate Nanette Forde-John.

Sharpe, 24, is charged with having sex with a female under the age of 14 on nine occasions between October 1, 2007 and May 19 this year.

He is also charged with indecent assault and grievous sexual assault. Sharpe was granted $75,000 bail and ordered to reappear in court on June 12.

He was arrested and charged at the Caroni Police Station on Monday.

And at the Couva Magistrates' Court yesterday, another man appeared charged with three sex crimes against a ten-year-old girl.

Father of two, Shankar Sewdass, 47, is charged with raping the girl at his workplace at St Margaret's Village on March 2, and with two counts of grievous sexual assault that allegedly occurred in February and last December.

Detective Stacey Chance charged Sewdass, a watchman and a school bus driver.

He is out on $125,000 bail.

The rape case against Sewdass was adjourned by Couva Magistrate Marcia Ayers Caesar to December 15. The other cases, being heard in the San Fernando Magistrates' Court, were adjourned to September 16...

As usual they take jobs that puts them around children. Just imagine putting your child on the same bus he drives?

Why are they letting these people out on bail? Are they wanting them to attack another little girl/boy? If they have done it more than once do not let these child molesters out on bail. Give them to the resident Bubba for reeducation purposes.

The trend continues as I am more convinced than ever that Trinidad has become a refuge for pedophiles. Parents, please be aware! Do not let your kids travel to school or anywhere else by themselves!

QUOTE
A 12-year-old girl jumped out of a car when it became caught up in traffic to get away from a man who attempted to sexually assault her, police said yesterday.

The schoolgirl was standing on Pouchet Street, San Fernando, awaiting transportation around 4 p.m. on Tuesday when she stopped a "dark blue car with silver glitter".

The girl asked the driver to take her into San Fernando and he agreed, police said. They said when he reached the traffic lights at Ruth Avenue he turned left onto the Rienzi Kirton Highway and the child told him he was going the wrong way.

The man started to speed until he was slowed by a line of traffic near the Gulf View Link Road. It was then he allegedly placed his hand up the girl's uniform and touched her genitals, investigators said. They said the girl screamed and jumped out the car which was still in traffic.

The man then overtook other vehicles and sped away, police said. San Fernando police officers are investigating.

On another note, there is a dramatic increase of children sexual abuse in the island as we can read in daily news.

QUOTE
There has been a dramatic increase in the number of reported cases of sexual abuse of children, a number of homes looking after mistreated children disclosed yesterday.

Statistics from the Rape Crisis Society showed there were 62 cases of sexual molestation involving children under the age of 15 last year. The previous year there were 49 that were looked after by the Society.

It said of last year's figures 13 cases were treated as incest and there were two buggery cases.

A supervisor from one home in South Trinidad said almost all of the 18 children at the home were sexually assaulted. In most cases it was done by someone whom the children knew and trusted, a spokesman said.

Spokespersons at several homes said based on the current trend they expected many more cases of sexually abused children this year, unless steps were taken to face the problem head-on.

The recent death of eight-year-old Hope Arismandez who was taken from her home at Chase Village, Chaguanas and beaten, stabbed and sexually molested by a man she trusted has brought outrage throughout the nation.

A spokesperson at the Society said the Hope incident was not a major surprise to her. It was a crime that was taking place throughout the country for quite a while but only recently was it being given major publicity, she said....

Maybe the Hope case has brought enough light on this subject that now something will be done to stop some of these predators. If things do not change for the better soon I fear for all children down there.

You're right KNtoran. Another TERRIBLE case:

GIRL, 3, BEATEN TO DEATH

After she was beaten black and blue by a man she loved and trusted, three-year-old Roshini Ramdial was wrapped in a blanket and placed in a crib.

The man then took a shower and watched television in the next room until her mother arrived. Told the girl was sleeping, she went to bed.

When she awoke the next morning, baby Roshini was dead.

The child was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where doctors pronounced her dead, police said yesterday.

The beating was said to have taken place on Friday, but it was not until around midday the following day did the child's mother, whose name was being withheld by police, notice the bruises.

Police were told that the girl was left in care of a man at a house at Assaraff Road, Charlieville, while her mother went to work.

The woman, who does domestic work, said when she returned around 7 p.m. the child appeared to be sleeping and she did not want to wake her.

Investigators said there were bite marks about the child's body and there were indications that she had been beaten. They said an autopsy would be done this morning to determine whether she was sexually assaulted.

A 35-year-old woman was questioned by police yesterday.

Up to last night police were in search of a 39-year-old man wanted in connection with the child's death...

Couple charged with killing infant

ACCUSED baby-killers Kelt Kirk and his wife Sherry-Ann Lalloo appeared before a Justice of the Peace yesterday, charged with the murder of Kirk's nine-month-old stepson.

Baby Rakeem Ricardo Clarke was brought dead to the Mayaro District Hospital last week with the story that he had tumbled off a bed.

But doctors found injuries consistent with a beating, and called the police.

On Monday, the pathologist found that baby Rakeem died from a battering to the head.

Kirk, a 30-year-old the father of three, and Lalloo, 26, lived in a small house at Mafeking Village with baby Rakeem's mother, Melissa Clarke, 30.

Kirk worked on a road repair crew and Lalloo unemployed.

Clarke was said to be making arrangement for her child's funeral yesterday....

Girls assaulted; hunt for predators

THE step-father of a 14-year-old girl who delivered her baby in the toilet of the family's home last week, is man police believe fathered the child.

The teenager and her baby are being cared for at hospital, while police search South Trinidad for the 40-year-old suspect. The girl's mother is also said to be a subject of interest in the case, for failing to report the assault on her child when she was 13-years-old.

The Fyzabad police are also looking for a man who allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl at a park near Fyzabad on Monday evening.

The girl told police she went with the suspect and his friend to Sanderson Park, a recreational area in the oil-producing area south of the town at 7 p.m. that day. She said one of the men assaulted her.

The girl was taken to the Fyzabad Police Station by her mother yesterday.

The mother of another 13-year-old took her daughter to the Penal Police Station yesterday to report an alleged sex assault. The girl said a man known to the family had raped her three times in the last month.

And in Tobago, a 38-year-old Mt. Grace man appeared before a Scarborough magistrate yesterday charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl...
