
Hmm.. I wondered about that and things like ICQ or IQC whatever it's called that lets you have all your messengers in one place. That would be nice, but I don't believe I'm technologically advanced enough to work it out.
Google Talk is a perfect replacement for any and all messengers. The reason is that Google Talk uses a protocol that is not blocked by most company firewalls, it runs over http channels to access the internet! To boot, you can actually use a voice over ip function to talk with other people on google talk. Once you have a connection between two parties, you can make a phone call and talk over your PC if you have a mic and head phones, how cool is that! Plus, all your gmail contacts are automatically added to your Google Talk messenger.
Another interesting feature is that the Jabber protocol will translate google talk into any other language for use with other instant messenger. This means that any messenger can connect with google talk!
