You are right Texas, here is the latest news about how much they can recruit:

ISIS, the terror group that calls itself the Islamic State, "Can muster between 20,000 and 31,500 fighters across Iraq and Syria," A CIA spokesman tells CNN. That is two to three times more than the 10,000 fighters previously estimated by the CIA.

"This new total reflects an increase in members because of stronger recruitment since June following battlefield successes and the declaration of a caliphate, greater battlefield activity, and additional intelligence," The spokesman said.

The thing about this number is it does not have to be concentrated, in other words you won't see them coming across a battlefield all at once.

British aid worker David Haines appears to have been executed by ISIS militants, according to a video posted to a website associated with the group, making him the third Western captive to be killed by the Islamist extremist group in recent weeks.

Haines, 44, was abducted in March 2013 near a refugee camp in Atmeh, Syria, while working to arrange for the delivery of humanitarian aid to people staying at the camp. Ref. CNN
