Platinum Membership

In all probability the Plus Membership offers more features than can be imagined for any online community. Recently the Architect has been considering a Platinum Membership which would increase the user's power and even enable features beyond the boundaries of this Community. If so what kind of features would you like to see and what should be the donation amount. See the Compare page for the long list of features.

Membership Platinum

I haven't think about the donation amount but I do think that a Platinum Membership member should have access to a LOT of FP's and maybe immunity from being stolen by Florena wink.gif. Also they could have their own board where they can create their own RPG. Maybe their profile should look totally different from a regular member, you know, something really special.

If there were a platinum membership, then the member's post should definitely be unique from other members, so that it stands out. Also, like LDS said, more FP. The flashing avatar that JB has would be nice as well, where the members pic morphs into something else. I've been very jealous of that ability since he started flashing it around the forum wink.gif As for donation amount, $150+ US wouldnt be an unfair asking price, for the very least double the amount of a Premium Plus.

Membership Platinum

Your own board would be very nice. You could get more interest at the bank and more discount at the shop. Maybe an ability to buy more tickets in the lottery. Also, maybe you will get different fonts for your messages, more smileys, more arcade games of course, and yes - a flashing avatar biggrin.gif

$150 - wow! That is a lot, I doubt there are members that will reach into their pockets that much - or am I wrong? Then again we are talking US$12.50 per month which really is not that much for someone in the US. I think I will form a new field under the Compare memberships page to show what the Platinum account will have. I will of course add most of what has been / will be suggested here so long as it is reasonable.

JB, I would pay $150 if the upgrades were that good. I would have paid that for the premium membership I have now. It would be worth it to me. I love all the features that come with a plus membership. Just my thoughts.

PS. Would you like the difference now? :laughs:

This is hard for me to answer because I don't donate with an eye towards what the added benefits are. I really appreciate them. I use them, but I donate only what I can afford, when I have extra. I donate because I love this forum and want to do all I can to help it continue to exist. So, the extras won't sway me to give more or less, but my favorite extra is definately FP.

Now, as to the $150 US. It may be only $12.50 per month, but it isn't paid monthly so it can still seem like a lot for some people. It is even less for Europeans because of the strength of the Euro against the US dollar. Yet, what about those in countries where their currency is not as strong against the US dollar? For example, Trinidad or South Africa? Is there a way to make it more affordable for them while still asking the $150 from US and other countries with strong currency? Probably not, but it is just a thought.

That is true and that is why you and FarSeer have Emeritus status - in other words you will always have lifetime Plus membership no matter if you do not donate or do, because you were willing to support us long before there was even such a thing as FP.

Well everything is done by the US$ and if one cannot afford to pay for Platinum or Plus then they should just aim for Premium, after all the idea is just to help out rather than concentrate on what they get per se. However, if the sole motive is to gain features then I will say 'save'. As an off note, I would be very surprised if a Trinidadian were willing to pay for anything online, in my experience they usually cannot come up with even a worthwhile post let alone pay for it - you can tell this by the activity on the Trinidad Board and being a Trinidadian allows me to say that.

Concerning monthly payment... I would like to do that, but two things would be a problem:

1. Users paying one month and then quitting simply because they just wanted to 'test' the features. It is too much work to set up a Plus membership to just have someone 'test' it.

2. Every time a donation is made the fees that are deducted constantly would make the value we are actually getting much less.

Now keep in mind that if a user only cares about FP then the chart on the donation page allows them to donate any amount above US$5 to get FP - this makes donating accessible to all and they feel rewarded for it.

Lastly, I would like to say that if there were many users donating then these features could be offered per quarter or bi-annually as it would offset the 'risk' involved.

I do not know what you mean.
