In the scriptures it says that the Savior will come "like a thief in the night". Also it says that even the elect will be deceived. It wouldn't surprise me that the world will celebrate another century, or even another millennium before Christ will come.

I do not think that we will have to wait that long. With the pace of the gospel being spread at the moment along with just a few prophecies left to be fulfilled I don't think a decade will pass.
