I know a lot of reports have flown around about our drinking water. The water supply is in very good shape. The levees they built after 1993 are holding strong and well above the water. You can see part of the levee in the one photo of fluer drive. It is on the right side of the roadway. We did have a levee break last night and it has flooded homes in the north central part of des moines. They are trying to sandbag a road to stop the spread the advance of flood waters in that area. So far all the other levees are holding along the rivers. The good news is the river levels dropped almost a foot last night.
There may be a picture or two of them in there somewhere. But you my friend will have to swim the flooded river to get to them.
We are drying out for a bit it seems I hope it keeps up.

My daughters are not into RPGS as of yet. I am still hoping someday they will be.
Upadte on things. The waters are going down slowly. Most of the streets that were closed are now getting ready to open if they are not opened yet. That is just here in central Iowa. the eastern part of Iowa that got hit harder than we did are still dealing with the flooded streets and even Interstate 80 is closed due to high water. This make a 5 hour detour to most people. I have friends in eastern Iowa and last I talked to them they are still fine. I am glad of this fact. I have more pictures up. The pictures of the water coming over the emergency spillway I had to sneak in to get. I was approached by some military police personnel as I took them. I had a nice talk with them and went my merry way. I was close to being arrested but my connections got me out of it.
We have had another day of drying out. I think this will put us back under the major flooding mark and only be in the moderate flooding area. If this trend continues they say we will be out of the flooding by the end of next week. That being over 10 days away is not a sure thing. I will try to get some pictures of the aftermath of the flooding. I hope some of these fields can dry out soon so they have the chance of being replanted.
The lake level is dropping but at the rate it is dropping it will be the end of this week before it is no longer going over the emergency spillway. I will try to get some pictures of the aftermath of that too.
Well the nice days seem to be headed for an end. Thunderstorms are supposed to head back into the state tonight thru thursday night. While they are not calling for any severe weather there is still a slight chance for it. I hope the rain fall is not on the heavy end and the rivers are still able to go down. We will have to wait and see about it though.
