Title: We need better politicians

Comments: We know which political party is in power here now. We have had many years of the PNM in power since our independence to recognize their presence. We have the same pattern of governance that they usually apply when in power. Things such as deprivation of the poorer areas of this nation.Continual bickering among politicians, manipulative legislation that are either racially divisive or are in favour of the already prosperous. Now that we have no place to go with new roads which supplemented salaries of both contractors and some politicians they are working overtime to find other methods to maintain the lifestyles of themselves an their rich associates. Our nation is still in ramshackle state. Our capital need urgent upgrading. We need better roads and good recreation facilities .We also need better medical care and welfare amenities, together with the helping hand of the public to stem the flow galloping crime and general lawlessness. Most of all we need a programme of diversification, stringent and accountability and transparency in government departments to halt the expansion of corruption. We also need an urgent reform of our police system and its procedures, together with a complete revision of our justice system. The days of our reliance on gas and oil are numbered. The recent announcement that the USA that they were is going to supply oil and gas on the open market together with the latest announcement in the UK that they intent to ban the use of petrol and diesel cars by 2040 just puts a nail in the coffin of our economy. However, none of this has any impact on the mentally of our politicians. They will continue to do exactly as they please despite how gloomy the international situation becomes. With rising crime, rising unemployment and more poverty, and nothing being done about any of our woes the writing is on the wall. Yes man, we need new political thinking if we are going to create a more secure nation with opportunities for the up coming generation. Our politicians are just playing at politics. We need politicians with genuine good intentions, better morals and compassion. At present they continue making promises that their party on its own could never fulfil, such as restoring the death penalty. Finally we need politicians that see and treat individuals of this society as members of one nation and not as a racially divided enclave.

Title: Our racially divided politics

Comments: The letter entitled "I am fed up,stop playing the race card" sums up the political situation here. All the electorate do when they vote in another racial group of politicians is to encourage the perpetual deceit and racial division that is haunting this nation. One hundred years from now if our so called educated and budding political brigade waiting in the pipeline to govern the nation continue to support the beliefs and doctrine of our political parties we will still be in the same boat as we are now. Some time in the future when our gas and oil resources are depleted we could look forward to the outbreak of racial violence which in the end will reveal the underlying cause for our non progress as a nation.

Title: The Bridgemans contract

Comments: It is the same old story a lack of accountability and transparency. Where else in the world would politicians enter into a contract with a foreign company without carrying out a thorough check on the company's financial status.I am referring to the Bridgemans Services Group LP contract. Now this business deal as it has been reported could only lead many to suspect that its the old underhand scheme of 'kick backs' in play here, and perhaps just goes to show that we are still wasting public money in a wily nilly manner. As I have said before many of our politicians are not fit for purpose and put their financial interest first in order to feather their own nests. The problem here is that it would appear now that we have run out of those in authority with honesty and good morals who could investigate this matter without it being swept under the carpet.Just wait now for the [..] story as to why our politicians entered this contract wearing blinkers.

Title: political involvement in law enforcement matters

Comments: If the government have no involvement in law enforcement matters as stated by the Prime Minister then why is a notorious citizen alleged to be involved in grand corruption and wanted by the FBI is allowed to evade extradition to face a court in America. Certain senior members of the local government are involved up to their necks in this matter.

Title: TIME TO CALL A GENERAL ELECTION

Comments: It is now quite clear that the writing is on the wall for the Prime Minister and his party. The truth of the matter is that he and his party has made no difference whatsoever to politics, the nation and our citizens. Since he has become the Prime Minister things have gone from bad to worse. Corruption is still in full swing and crime has escalated beyond belief. The politicians in the corridors like the police of have only offered lip service so far. There was the promise by the PM to bring back the death penalty and other crime preventative measures, however so far nothing meaningful has been done. There have also been somewhat boastful statements by the police that crime has fallen which is very hard to comprehend bearing in mind the present widespread activities by the criminals on this particular island. We now have a larger brigade of loose killers roaming this island doing exactly as they please and when they want to.We also have and expansion of all types of crimes and lawlessness, rising poverty and unemployment a declining economy together with a growing resentment of an almost useless police force who have become a law onto themselves with a growing dislike and lack of respect by the public. We also have no real curb on our local fanatical so-called Muslim movement which supports and recruit terrorist. It is therefore about time another general election is called .Whether another political party will be able to stem the flow of corruption, murders other crimes and lawlessness, we will just have to wait and see. Whatever happens it is now quite clear that the PNM has failed to improve the situation and has in fact contributed to making matters worse.Generally speaking I cannot recall a time in the past when thing were so bad in this nation.

Title: A natiion corrupt to its core

Comments: It is good to see at least one politician admitting that the nation is more or less corrupt to its core, but what is he going to do about it, or is this just part and parcel of the problem is saying you know what is wrong but at the same time doing nothing meaningful or constructive to resolve the problem,a very similar scenario to the daily murders of innocent citizens here.

Title: Striving for excellence

Comments: Without honest and dedicated personal help from our politicians, ordinary citizens striving for excellence are just wasting their time Politicians here tend to maintain an attitude of double standards and make promises that they are unable to keep. It was not long ago that the prime minister promised to restore the death penalty, but so far nothing has happened. Then there was the promised to deal with our brigade of potential terrorists, and again nothing has happened. We also had promises of a recovery of our economy. Now things are changing at a rapid pace, more citizens are going to become unemployed and the rate of the rise of poverty is going to escalate. It simply amounts to either bad political management or the ability of our politicians to deal with problems in a pragmatic manner thus avoiding unnecessary backlash. Take for instances dealing with our terrorist movement here. In any democratic nation, such a movement will never be allowed to continue or grow as it has here. Those involved in this illegal activity would be arrested and dealt with in a fair but severe manner by the justice system. Here all we have is an offer of lip service by politicians to deal with this matter which it never followed up. The long and short of it all is that our decent and honest citizens cannot strive for excellence without earnest assistance from those in the corridors of power. Politicians here must first assess and consult others before they make promises that they cannot fulfill.

Comments: It would be great if our politicians stop the political and racial infighting and get on with the job of administering the nation in a truly democratic manner. They just keep hammering at the opposition politicians which clearly indicate that they are not settled and are expecting more turmoil in their running the nation. It again indicates that the PNM is now not really suitable to run this nation. It is a shame that we have been failing for decades to produce any worldwide recognized statesmen from our citizens to represent the nation and its citizens. Almost all of our senior politicians here have ended their careers with black clouds hanging over their heads usually from dabbling in corruption. Are we about to witness the collapse of another supposedly democratic government with perhaps the careers of present senior politicians ending in disgrace?
