Theaton will head down the entrance corridor to where the small opening is at. He will motion the others to come with him. He uses caution looking for any signs of a secret door or the possible trap.
Out of Character: Perception check: 14 D20 rolls: 13, 17, 13, 10
Nobody notices the edge of the pit trap as Theaton steps forward, only to find his foot falling down below the ground. A trapdoor opens beneath him and he falls down a 10 foot deep hole taking 4 damage.
The hole is square and 5 feet wide, taking up most of the corridor. Theaton finds himself next to a canine pile of bones, a well crafted trigger and a length of rope coming out of a hole in the right wall.
Theaton climbs out of the pit slowly, carefully, and the clerics pull him up at the top. Shivas offers a healing spell which closes the wound without the need for bandaging.
Theaton looks ahead and notices there is only 2 feet wide of earth to stand on before there is another pit trap further down the corridor, spanning almost the entire corridor.
Cure Light Wounds: 6+2 = 8
Out of Character: I'll put a map for clarity, obviously you can't see all of it, but it's all up for simplicity.
ICon Pathfinder Kingmaker Stolen Land (Hover)
The pits take up most of the corridor, it is difficult to place a foot on the edge, as it can slip towards the pit. Getting past will be a feat, balancing on the sides with acrobaics, climbing across the sides or roof of the cave, or climbing through the pits. Or the trap itself could be disabled.
Out of Character: With no one knowing how to remove a trap or disable it we will have to do our best in avoiding and getting past it.
In Character: Theaton will take some rope out and tie it around his waist and instruct the others to keep a hold of it and be ready to pull him back if he falls into the trap. He will work his way around the trap as best as he can. Once he makes it to the other side he will instruct Shivas to come along the rope as him and Jhod keep the rope tight for her. Once she is across they will assist Jhod across and pull him over if he falls into the trap.
Out of Character: unmodified rolls to cross over 17, 11, 14, 18
Theaton carefully crosses to the other side, inching along the wall. He and Jhod pull the rope taut and let Shivas cross. She holds the wall as she shifts across the gaps and crosses, then holds the rope for Jhod. Jhod begins well, crossing the open pit. As he walks by the closed pit, he misjudges and steps onto the trap, which swings open taking the cleric. He falls 5 feet, before the rope goes taut, painful but not damaging.
Theaton and Shivas begin pulling, however, as he steps back, Theaton feels a familiar surface begin to give way. A third pit trap open up behind him and he begins to fall in. Gripping tightly on the rope, he falls slowly and come to a stop only half way down.
So, Theaton and Jhod are counterbalancing each other in two different pits. Shivas stands at the top on a narrow 1-foot ledge between them. The base of the pit is smooth, and close enough to be safe to jump down, but you have to think about what Jhod needs to do. He asks, "Theaton, do you want me to start climbing up this pit?"
