"Like I said sell the egg why keep it with us so something can come after us for it or it gets broken 2000 gold is more then enough for it that is more gold then I have ever seen at one time"
"I don't want to sell the egg yet, and even if we did, who would we sell it to? I have to wonder if the tower and the egg are connected. In the meantime I'm going to report the tower to my old commander of the watch and see what he says.
If we vote on where to go I pick the caves, at least for now."
With that Ilthin heads off to make a report. He may not like the sergeant who ran his guard platoon, but he respects the leader, and the keep is where he grew up and he owes some loyalty to these people.
Out of Character: Drethen will vote to head back out adventuring. He will go with the majority when it comes to selling the egg or keeping it. As long as he gets his share he will be happy.
In Character: : "I think we go back out to see about the tower or even go back to the caves. There is more than just the two who knows what we will find there."
Ilthin tells his old commander about the tower on the hill. His commander responds by saying, "So, you've seen it too? You may not have heard much about it being mostly a guard in the keep, but we often received reports from merchants as well as adventurers about the tower. We call it the Shy Tower because sometimes it's there, but most often it's not.
Some people have also gone off to investigate it. Most have returned never having found it. Others have returned saying it was just an old abandoned tower. And a few other..." He pauses for effect, "Never returned at all."
Thane sighs, "Alright, let's sell the egg but that won't mean it will be sold easily but at least I hope to get my cut."
Out of Character: is there a particar offer already or we need to ask around?
Places that you know might be interested in a dragon's egg right off the bat would be the chapel, the guild house, the pawn shop (Where Thane got his loan initially), or you could ask around the tavern where the merchants and other characters gather. If there's someplace else that you think would be interested that you'd like to try, you can bring it up and we'll see where it goes.
Out of Character: How about this, let's try all the places in the same order you mentioned until we get the best price with some haggling.
Given the fact that 2000gp is already a large sum of cash, each of the places mentioned only offers you the 2000gp, maybe 2100, if you're lucky. However, as you ask around in the tavern, there is one gentleman who is willing to give you 2400 for it.
